Just got a y580 with the SSD. I plan on upgrading it to Windows 8. Can I remove the one touch recovery stuff since Windows 8 has its own? What other Lenovo things can I safely uninstall?

Also, on the SSD/Rapid Share stuff... Will I need that with windows 8? Do I just install Windows 8 to the SSD? Whats on there now?

    Thanks...

If you upgrade to 8, you can't use the recovery partition anyway, it overwrites the boot manager so basically if you ever try to use it, it won't know where to look. I'd highly suggest at least making the recovery discs in case something gets screwed up.

OK... So then should I install the OS to the SSD and just use the 1TB for data and programs?

    Not true.

I did a fresh install of Windows 8 Pro, left enough space for the recovery partition at the end of the drive, and used the OKR Engineering Disc to create the new partition and install OKR. Then next time it started up, it made the initial backup of my OS to the recovery partition. The process of creating the OKR partition also updates the boot sector so you can use the OKR button to power on with and go straight into OKR and do a restore.
