Those who got the msata ssd installed from the factory, can you check your bios (reboot + F2) and see what version you have?

    should be 2.03, 2.04, or 2.05.

Anyone with msata ssd have version 2.03 ?

    I also have 2.03 (insydeH20 Rev3.7 5DCN36WW V2.03)
model number Y580 20994JU -seems like kind of a rare one
    (FHD, 8gb DDR3, 750GB 5400rpm HDD, 32GB mSATA SSD, BD-RE)

I only joined this forum a few hours ago as I'm trying to figure out how to do a in-place upgrade from W7 Home Premium to W7 Ultimate, I think the SSD setup is causing the error I'm getting and have thus far been unable to resolve. FWIW, even with the SSD from the factory the chipset does not have RAID.

My upgrade attempts are abending with Error Code: 0x80070490 "Setup cannot find a location to store temporary installation files..." and I have not found a fix that works yet.

    thanks for the info.

it's probably easier and faster to download and install win7 sp1 iso from a usb drive, and then install the drivers on the D drive.
    went very fast for me.

I didn't try a USB drive, but I tried installing from a 32gb Class 10 SDHC card in the cardreader - also with no success.
There wouldn't be any difference between this and a USB drive would there? (Windows identified the card as Drive E: )

bios doesn't recognize the card reader, so it can't boot from it.

you have to put the sd card in one of those usb card readers, like the ones going for 99 cents on ebay, and stick it in as a usb drive.
