    Hello Lenovo users.

I will need your insight and experince to guide me on this puzzling task.

    I have a choice between:

    Lenovo Z50-70 - White
    Lenovo Z50 Notebook | 39,6Âcm (15,6") Multimedia-NotebookÂ| Lenovo DE

    • 4th Generation Intel Core i3-4010U. (might be bottleneck? also U version.)
    • 15.6" FHD LED Glare Wedge 1920x1080 (Full HD, good plus)
    • NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M 2GB (Seems to be good for this price range?)
    • 4 GB DDR3 (Well, 8 would be better. but can be upgraded)
    • 500GB + 8GB 5400 rpm (Hybrid, but only 5400rpm)
    • Aesthetically pleasing

Price: 500 Euro (~660$ for you Americans )

    and

Lenovo G510 (CPU step up, card down?)

    Lenovo G510 39,6 cm Notebook 8G2GB schwarz: Amazon.de: Computer & Zubehör
    • Intel® Core Prozessor, i7 4700MQ (Haswell and i7, should be nice.. )
    • 15.6"/39.6cm, HD 1366x768, (not great resoultion...)
    • AMD, Mobility Radeon, HD8750M, 2GB, DDR3 (T 840m seems to be better)
    • 1 TB hybrid, 8GB SSD (larger size and hybrid is nice but 500 was enough)
    • 4 GB DDR3
    Price: 530 (30 expensive)

The first one has better GPU (Nvidia GT 840M 2GB and Screen (full HD)). Hovewer second one has i7 4700MQ instead of i3-4010U (U edition!).

So I am wondering about the tradeoff of Nvidia GPU + Full HD Screeen to i7 CPU.

Is upgrading from i3-4010U to i7 4700MQ, worth sacrificing Full HD to HD and Nvidia GT 840M 2GB to AMD Mobility Radeon, HD8750M, 2GB?

Well also HDD upgrade from 500GB to 1TB but its trivial for me. Lets assume thats for extra 30 Eur.

Form factor of z50-70 seems to be much nicer and "sleeker". Please give me your insights on this.

    Thank you!

    EDIT:

My usage will include Office, Browsing. Data Processing/Analysis: Mathlab, Mathematica, Statistics (STATA, R Programming). Possible some OS virtualisation (Mainly Linux). Some Gaming (ulta high quality not necessary ).

Z50. The 8750m is significantly worse than the GT 840m. CPU's on both laptops are upgradable whereas GPU's aren't.
