I just got a new z60t. It's great, except that the screen appears a bit grainy, like a photo made on high speed film. Anyone else have this issue/have any suggestions? It's not the 16 vs. 32 bit issue--I've already changed the display to 32 bit.

The model is 2511HAU. The graininess shows up most when looking at white areas of the screen. Since I do a ton of word processing, that's a real problem.

hmm interesting i thought the screen was fine with word processing... a bit more noticeable with darker backgrounds or pictures because, it's regular xga resolution.

That is a nice model tho and a great deal now... do you know that it is one of the extremely few Z60's to get the (faster/better) DVD burners and also the significantly better atheros wifi card instead of the intel card.

    Sweet.

So is the screen really that noticeable with white? Hmm maybe it's something else like a defect? My T screen has just started going pink :(

The grainy screen is talked about in the T60 initial impressions thread by irfan. Read the whole thing, as he solves the problem toward the end, I think it was a BIOS problem if my memory isn't foggy this morning.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did read the T60 thread, and it suggested downgrading the bios--but how exactly do I do that?

By the way, I called Lenovo and their response was essentially "deal with it." Kind of disappointing, since I've had excellent customer service experiences with them in the past.

Sorry, no help on the downgrade, I'd get in touch with irfan. I would be upset too about their response. It sounds like there are at least 2 or 3 screen manufacturers for the Lenovo with various qualities. Look up the maufacturer of your particular screen and see if it compares with other people's observations. Squeaky wheel them into making you satisfied.

my CTO z60t has a pretty good screen. No apparent grainy-ness to me.
