    Hello all,
with a lot of pleasure I've received my new z61t T7200 with Windows Vista Business OS.
The system is working fine except one thing:
After the login procedure in windows, and after has loaded the taskbar with all the applications, the laptop keep going ok working with the hard disk like a mad.
There're no applications, running in the taskmanager, that use CPU (except a little bit for the SVCHOST),and no other program that needs to be loaded.
After 3-4 minutes, the laptop stops working with the hard disk and the system run fine.
    Two more things:
the memory resources, after the hard disk has stop working, are definitely low (300MB of ram free over 2 GB (the hypermemory is disabled))
Moreover, I've noticed that the moment in which the hard disk stops working coincide exactly with 2 event in the event log:
the source is LoadPerf and the event IDs are 1000 and 1001.
Inside there something mentioning performance counters for the service WmiApRpl.

Can someone help me? Should I bring the laptop back and let it change?
    HEEEELP.

    Thanks a lot
    Tommy.

    P.s.
I hope you've understood the problems, and I'd like to apologise for the mistakes in the text ^^'b

i have noticed this too. just in case it's worth mentioning, i also have a z61t.

i THINK the cause of the problem is some feature of Windows Vista, since it only started happening after I upgraded from Windows XP. On another thread, someone mentioned the file indexing service.

Im not too familiar with Windows Vista, so maybe someone more proficient there can help

to resummarize the symptom (cuz I wouldn't exactly call it a boot issue): basically whenever you turn on the computer (or even resume from hibernation), the computer disk activity is quite intense for about 3 minutes, then everything returns to normal.

    Yep, that's right...
Do you think I should try to ask also to Microsoft support?
Does someone here have experience with vista?
Thanks anyway ItzCooLz. Now I know that it's not just me that have this problem.
    Just a not. Mine is a z61p, not a t. That way a type error ^^'b

    Best regards
