Hi all.
I am considering getting a z61t -- I'm also interested in setting up a LCD monitor (most likely a 17" or 19") to connect to it.
Now, I read in the reviews that the z61t does not have a DVI output, even with the advanced dock.
So, firstly, does anyone have any experience with connecting this Thinkpad to an external LCD display ? Is the VGA output satisfactory/sufficient to drive a 19" ? Or is VGA going to be
too "weak" for any decent LCD monitor ?
And secondly, does anyone have any experience doing the same with Linux running on the z61t ?
Thanks in advance.

VGA will be perfect. You won't be able to tell the difference using VGA and DVI. I use a Dell 2405FPW monitor via VGA which is 24" and the image is flawless. You should have no problems.

My R60 which also has the Intel 950 GPU does not work with the DVI on the dock. I have heard the same on the Z61t though I haven't tested it myself. I personally can't tell the difference between DVI and VGA.
I have Ubuntu on my R60. I haven't thrown it on the dock yet. It worked fine on my T42.
