I just configured a laptop (T61) and the ending price is just about offering 28% discount.......they just decided to go past their advertised 25% discount promotion?

If you go to their site and click on it as you would normally place an order, this is what happens....

TailorMade is a program for AMEX. If you have American Express card, do a google search for TailorMade (spelled this way and not like the golf affiliated company). It offers additional discounts for certain websites for AMEX members.

Just like Visa has VisaPerks in Canada ($100 off a T61 in Canada).

ah i don't use credit cards. i'll probably use EPP + whatever the next sale is. the ~28% discount was probably a typo on lenovo's part....they seem to be making a lot of mistakes with their web ordering recently.

It was originally 25% off (for the past 2 weeks), but yesterday they decided to become hot and sexy by reducing the base price some more.

Hope the 4th-of-July is like last year... I still recall that the top-of-the-line X60 with dock was $1087 instead of the $2800 list price at that time (not that anyone usually pays full list). Talk about fireworks!

The reason why most mfr's offer huge discounts on their notebooks is because they are in the process of releasing newer models and want to get rid of all older models.

Everyone keeps talking about a possible July 4th sale. Was the sale in the past on that day only, during the month of July, or before July 4th.

The Memorial Day sale started about two weeks before Memorial Day and went about one week after Memorial Day. If that's the case with July 4th. We should probably see the July 4th sale start in a couple weeks.
