    Hi everyone,

I recently ordered an LG P310 Tarsia via eBay Germany, but to my horror it has been lost by DHL during shipping. Since the Tarsia has been discontinued from production and its successor is much more expensive, I am hoping to find another subnotebook that can satisfy the same requirements.

I hope it is okay that I post my request here.

    General Questions

    1) What is your budget?

    Around € 1300 / US $ 1800.

    2) What size notebook would you prefer?

    c. Thin and Light; 13" - 14" screen

    3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator.

Anywhere, but preferably within the EU.

    4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like?

    a. Like: LG, HP, Sony, Samsung
    b. Dislike: Packard Bell, Fujitsu Siemens

    5) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook?

Primarily used for school, but also gaming and Adobe Creative Suite at home.

    6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both?

Yes, will be using it at university most of the week, so portability is a must. Not only in actual size, but also weight - preferably at most 1.8 kg/4 lbs.

    7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games or types of games?

Yes, older games like Neverwinter Nights 2 (RPG), but also stuff like Sims 3 and newer RPGs/strategy games online.

    8) How many hours of battery life do you need?

High battery life is not essential, since I will have access to power plugs most places on campus, but minimum 2 hours.

    9) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK?

    Buying online is fine.

    10) What OS do you prefer? Windows (XP or Vista), Mac OS, Linux, etc.

I prefer Windows - XP or Vista unimportant.

    Screen Specifics

    11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer?

    a. WXGA – 1280x800 or occasionally 1280x768;

    12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen?

    Not important.

    Build Quality and Design

    13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you?

Somewhat, but not a deal breaker. Build quality more important

    14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last?

Buying within a month, lasting minimum 2 years.

    Notebook Components

    15) How much hard drive space do you need; 80GB to 500GB? Do you want a SSD drive?

As low as 80 GB is fine, since I will probably use an external hard drive for storage demands.

    16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive?

External optical drive preferred, DVD burner and Blu-Ray not necessary.

I hope you guys can help me find a computer that will make me feel less sad about having lost the opportunity to own a Tarsia. Thank you very much in advance!
