Can't update my Mobility x700 drivers without having LCD problems

For some time I've been using the drivers provided by mt notebook manufacturer (LG) but with some of the current published games, I have some issues which need updated drivers... For instance, Settlers II: The Next Generation, the little people look all weird with shaders on if I don't update the drivers, the problem doesn't exist with the updated drivers.

However, updating the drivers leaves me with other issues. I've experienced this problem with the official drivers (using the DH Tool to install them) and with the Omega drivers. I don't know why this happens nor exactly when it happens, but some times I get the following:



And I don't know how to get the screen back, so, for now, I'm just using the drivers provided by LG, which are very outdated and I really wanted to have the latest ones...

I also tried to download the drivers directly from here: http://www.ati.com/online/mobilecatalyst/ and also the Omega ones but I still got the same problems.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

I have the same problem. Same hardware (x700). Maybe a mod should move this to the hardware or a more appropriate section.

And now that Vista is out... I guess we won't be able to play games on it cause of the stupid LG that doesn't updated their drivers.

 

i think LG laptop is a bit unstable to me, it just don't seem to squeeze the performance out of it hard ware, i used to have ASUS and it run excellent. Any way you can try to uinstall the lastest driver and try some other driver date, or use the LG intelligent update to check for new driver.

 

Intelligent update doesn't help cause there isn't any new drivers at all, and to be honest, I don't think we'll have any in a long time... Maybe only with a new laptop from them...
