    Well,
I have looked almost everywhere and i dont see that they are upgradable if this is true im thinking of taking my LW70 back any help?.

So far i know there is another DDR2 slot for another ram..
Now i wanna know if you can do the Display card it has the Radeon Mobility X600 and i'd like the 128MB but living in Tasmania we dont get the chance to get the top range models.

    Thanks,

Normally for DDR2 they have to run dual chanel thus the two slot are taken...I think....
and as far for the video card...Jeff from OnlineElectronics told me that they are NOT upgradable....

I have an LW-60 it shipped with 1 512mb DDR2 stick of memory.

LG do this for some reason or another.

If I stick another 512mb stick in the spare slot the I've been told the memory will run to its full potential.

Do you really think 128mb X600 will make all that difference over a 64mb X600?

    Cheers

I would like to see some benchmarking on that...
    X600 64 mb vs X600 128 mb
b/c I'm in the same dilema... to get the LM70 (64mb) or LM70 (128 mb)..[?][?]

Well I just ran half life 2 and doom 3 on Complete high detail and when i did i noticed it ran perfect..
I could not believe it just how well it ran.
So NO i dont believe it is worth upgrading to a 128 even if you could you have a Video card that runs better then a 256MB GeForce FX5200. Which is in my desktop.

Also yes you can buy another DDR2 RAM upto 1024MB stick and put it in.
I ordered two 1024MB sticks today. I am kind of annoyed i cant upgrade from 1.73GHz to the max it can go :(.

It seems we have the identical LW70 configs - I would also like to upgrade the CPU in the future - I think it might actually be possible - most CPU's are NOT hard soldered into the mother bd....

Also I just had a look under the covers in the LW70's base and I found a spare slot for RAM but I also found something quite disturbing - my HDD is actually a PATA/IDE (4200rpm) and NOT a SATA HDD as it proudly displays on the front sticker!
Now I have heard around the traps that in fact there is very little difference between the two as far as performance but it's not nice to know that what we think we are getting - leading edge future proof technology is in fact a lie! [ :(!]

Oh and the reason I opened up the bottom covers was to check the RAM chips - there is a spare slot BUT the existing slot has the miniPCI wi-fi card fitted - so where is the existing RAM chip???

    Puzzled & confused.....

I think I am going to have to talk with LG about this - not happy at all....[V][V]

Alex where did you order the extra RAM from? I would like to add an extra stick too.

    Thanks

As for SATA HD it depends on the system configuration. THe LW70 has several ones...and I think they put the same sticker on every LW70. But if you did pay for a SATA HD...I would complain to LG...

In the Ez user Guide i found this kind of annoyed me lol but im sure that we wont need upgrading for a very long time...

    Processor.
Intel Pentium M Processor with 2MB L2 Cache(Mobile Dothan Processor).
    (L2 cache : 2048KB, Micro-FCPGA 478package)
The CPU cannot be replaced or upgraded by the user.
The computer is equipped with a different CPU depending on the model type.

Some have, some don't, did the specs of the seller said SATA?

    I bought a LW60 yesterday, i'm amazed by the screen =)

If you want to install 3dmark 2003 on the model with 64m I will do the same on my LM70 128M and you will see if there is a big difference. The CPU ,Hard Drive, Memory, Wifi, Modem.Bluetooth are all upgradable in these units. I would blame the reseller for not telling you about the SATA/Pata drive if you check my price list you will see it says the unit that is inside each unit. www.tabletpc.name price list. If you need a unit I can ship to Tasmania.

From what I have been told and I will get LG_MAN to confirm all dothan and sonoma notebooks can be upgraded to higher cpu's I will see if I can get a supported CPU list for everyone.
