Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and I have a few questions about LG. I'm currently looking into the Core Duo models offered. I tried some searching on the forums, without that much success. If these topics have already been covered, then I apologize in advance. I've been checking these out in Toronto shops.

    1) I've been looking at specs online, is the only difference between the P1 and S1 just the S1's piano black? Does this justify a $300 difference?

    2) I talked to a guy at Canada Computers, and he said they can upgrade the RAM to 2 gigabytes using Kingston or Kingsmax RAM. Wouldn't this void the warranty by opening the notebook/removing the seals, and also using non-LG parts? (Or are these brands certified in some way?) The guy suggested I upgrade to 2 gigabytes if I wanted great performance, will 2 gigabytes really make such a difference on this machine? From what I've read, 1 gigabyte seems ample, even for gaming.

    3) Will these laptops most likely support Aero graphics on Windows Vista? There shouldn't be any major compatibility issues if I wanted to upgrade to Vista when it comes out, right?

    Thanks! =)

1gb is ample, but you may want to upgrade later on. Just keep it at default for now.

And yea, technically, it will void warranty, but thats where you come in after market, buy it afterwards, switch it and keep the default parts safely stored, as if you need to send it in, switch the parts back. They'll never know :)

Aero should work fine, the x1600 is pretty top of the line for 15" laptops.
