LG E500 SmartCam not working

Hi

I have recently purchased the LG E500 SB11A and have found that the webcam (SmartCam) has stopped working. I have can not find it anywhere in device manager. I have also gone to the full length of rebuilding my laptop with the LG Vista CD.

Does anyone have any idea how to get the webcam working? When I use MSN or anything else it just tells me that there is no device installed.

I had the same exact problem with the LG E500 SmartCam and it almost drove me mad.
In the end, just by hitting Fn+F10 you can activate the smartcam again. The thing is, when you deactivate it from there, it truly disappears from the device manager, and everywhere else.
I just couldnt belive when that crap did the trick.
Anyway, if that doesnt solve it, I have heard of others with the same problem that by formatting and reinstalling vista or even better XP they got their problem solved.

hi, pls, i need help with my webcam E500 LG. it just isnt working. well, it worked once before but now it just stopped. I've tried the above options but no luck. Any help will be appreciated.

I had same problem too...ended up buying new. Good Luck.

 

It also worked for me! when you press fn + f10 a small icon with a camera appears alternatively with and without a red cross, indicating that the camera is on or off. What I dont understand is why this is not depicted in the manual. To whom posted the solution, did you find it by chance?

 

Hey guys, I am thinking abt buyin LG R500 or LG E500. Ive noticed that LG R500 has max 2GB memory so I decided to buy E500. All of you ppl using E500 can give a view abt working of this laptop, screen, ( lol exlcuding webcam issue as ive gone through reading above posts and ill try to remember this hint).....
Being a user, u can give the best review so please tell me abt it
