Hi
I have a problem with the Lg gram 2020 audio speaker, as the DTS:X is not working with the speakers of the laptop. It gives a message saying its only compatible with headphones, but I remember it was also compatible with speakers. I tried reinstalling the DTS:X app from the Microsoft store but it did not help.
I looked at the audio drivers and looks like windows has installed Synaptics Smart Audio by default. I looked at the drivers on the LG update center and for audio, they have Conexant Audio drivers.
I am not able to uninstall and install the Conexant Audio as Windows does not let it. It always default back to the Synaptics drivers.
I tried using the LG Update center and it has no pending updates.
Any idea how I can make DTS:X work with Lg gram speakers? Do I need to correct drivers?

on my 2021 it was working half of the time. Best deinstall because it takes away loudness. I installed equalizer apo instead. However sometimes that one also doesn't work - much less often though. They really botched something up there...
Edit: Just make sure to follow the tutorials how to install Equalizer APO stringently. and enable the experimental mode. Then it works all of the time. Need to disable hardware acceleration. That dolby crap has no reason to be on the laptop. The speakers are soo much better without it and instead adding some loudness in APO. I added 12db overall and 5db around the 80-120hz region. Below 80hz the speakers don't do anything anyhow, so take that out to avoid distortion if you increase the overall level.Last edited: May 13, 2021 -
LG Update center installs beta version of DTS. Try to go into Device Manager and uninstall everything Realtek and DTS. Audio inputs and outputs, Sound, video and game controllers, Software components.
Make sure to mark Delete the driver software from device. After that reboot and windows will install the latest driver from Microsoft. Don't install newer DTS drivers from LG.
For me this fixed DtsApo4Service which was crashing every time I tried to play anything through headphones (thus no sound for headphones).
You can see if you have issue in Event Viewer (Control Panel -> Administrative Tools). Check Windows Logs / Application. If you see crash every time you try to play test sound (from Control Panel -> Sounds), moving back to official Microsoft drivers might help.
