Hello,
Where can I find the Thunderbolt drivers for the LG Gram?
-
Did you install LG Update Center and use it to update all your drivers?
-
Yes, I have that installed and installed all the drivers.
-
Strange, it should be installed with that unless there's some hardware/BIOS issue.
Can you install this?

That's installed and I see the port as port 1 under attached devices.
-
So what's happening is your TB device is not being recognized when plugged in?
-
Yes, I have a HUB that worked flawlessly for over a year and the TB stopped recognizing it after a clean install of windows. I have a warning in device manager that says "Unkown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed" and "Unknown USB Device (Link In SSInactive).
Nothing I plug into the TB port works correctly. The TB port is allowing the hub to use the HDMI ports, but none of the storage ports. The TB control center says "Port 1" with no options or settings and there is nothing in the Approved Devices section. I'm pretty positive this has to be a driver issue but I've searched up and down. The LG website has been useless for me as it only shoes the LG Control Center for download regarding drivers. I've ran that and it's saying everything is uptodate. I've tried deleting all the drivers regarding TB but that's not working either. I thought maybe I need a bios update but there's no way I can find the bios versions either. -
I doubt it's a bios update, but you can try updating it by going into device manager, expand "Firmware", right click on "LGE System Firmware" and select "Update driver" and "Search Automatically for drivers" (believe it or not it works if there is a new version... ). If there's a new BIOS it will go through the update process, whatever you do don't turn off the computer it will probably reboot on it's own or prompt you if you need to do anything.
Also it's not the LG Control Center that will install your drivers, it's the LG Update Center, they are two different apps unless they changed something for newer models? Which generation Gram 17 do you have, what is the laptop model # or CPU it uses?
Do you see devices in device manager with warnings without any devices hooked up to USB? Can you delete them from within device manager and reboot, the drivers should install autoamtically.
The only thing you should need to do is install windows then install/run "LG Update Center". You shouldn't need any other apps, also never use those 3rd party driver utilities...
You could also try loading BIOS defaults, but I just went digging around in the BIOS of my 2019 Gram 17 (i7-8565U) and there's really nothing there for advanced options, it's pretty barebones so I doubt anything you did there would cause an issue. I do have Legacy USB Support enabled, but that's probably like that by default (the option allows usage of USB for mouse for example in BIOS before OS loads) , if you didn't change any BIOS settings I doubt that is the problem.Last edited: Oct 7, 2021 -
OK, great. I'm going to restore windows by wiping the entire drive and fresh installing the OS, the Bios is up-to-date. I'll then install the LG software and have it install all the drivers right away. Hopefully that works, I'll keep you updated. My machine is a 2020 Gram 17.

I've formatted the HD, installed windows 11 home back to the machine, first app i installed was LG Updater, updated everything. Thunderbolt driver is there and the port still won't recognize my hub or iphone, or anything else plugged into that port, but it will charge things. No idea what's going on. It's a mystery.

It's beginning to sound like a hardware issue, but I still want to say it's probably something simple being overlooked, not sure what.
Is it still under warranty? -
Make sure you're using modern enough version of LG Update Center. For me I couldn't install correct drivers because I have downloaded too old version of the app. It doesn't keep itself up to date and all of this LG software crap with drivers cannot be installed in any other way. As soon as it becomes obsolete you will be unable to reinstall everything. So yeah, try to find more recent version

This might be the one you are already using but try this link: https://gscs-b2c.lge.com/downloadFile?fileId=KVKFm1Vs3fq6hxkerfjXQ
Do you have the original install media or recovery media?
