    Hello everyone,

Thanks for all the info in this forum, it helped me a lot, I now know I probably want to buy an LW70. I'm from Holland, so I will have to order in Germany, since LG doesn't sell notebooks in Holland (

This means I cannot easily return my notebook when something's not OK, so before ordering I would really like to know the following:

    - Is the CPU user- upgradable, i.e. can I replace the Pentium-M 750 later on by a Pentium-M 770? It is enough to know if the CPU is easily accessible and removable, which also depends on the cooling solution. I know that this is discussed elsewhere as a subtopic, but no answers are given.

    - What is the max. EXTERNAL VGA-resolution of the notebook? And of the port-replicator?

    - What material is the case made of? At some sites it says plastic, at others magnesium, aluminium or carbon fibre.

Thanks in advance for any answers!

the lw70 has a user upgreadble cpu but u have to be carful cause u have to remove the heatsink first and make sure u apply thermal gease to the new cpu or it will fry, and the case is made of mostly of plastic.

    P.s Xplodin u enjoyin ur ls50 8 i rekon it's a great laptop

Thats not what im seeing here.
Ive got an external montior currently plugged into my LW70, and its running at 1280x1024.
A quick look at the display settings says itll go all the way up to 2048x1536.

Yeap, sure is a great laptop to have. Being a Uni Student i find that its more than enough for me. Are you another ls50-8 user? I recon i should have waited just a little while longer for the 533mhz bus and the PCI-E. But i'm happy with what i have.

I've had alot of experience with different notebooks, maybe it's because i've only ever used it on a external LCD monitor. Maybe i was rong? :S

Thanks for your replies, especially great that the cpu is user-upgradable! How the heck (not sure if this is a word) did you guys find this out? Hands-on experience?

Yes, 2048x1536 corresponds nicely to the specs ATI gives for the X600 and X700. I wasn't sure if it was also implemented for external VGA. Now I know, thanks!

Now I have a new problem though: I can't order the LW70 from Germany because then I'm stuck with a stupid keyboard-layout with special keys for ä, ö and ü (no, in the Netherlands we don't speak German, we have our own idiosyncratic language: Dutch).

In Holland we use the US keyboard layout, so I would like to order a LW70 with such a keyboard. Therefore I'm wondering:

    - If I order an LW70 in Canada, does it have a US keyboard layout?
    - Does the LW70 come with an AC adapter for worldwide usage?
    - Is there a Canadian dealer that ships the LW70 internationally (I couldn't find one)?

    Again, thanks in advance!

    Flo-w -

Yep i took my notebook apart (I like taking things apart dunno why but i do) thats how i know. I've never broken anypart of my notebook before but i'm sure its a matter of time.(fingers crossed) One thing is this little metal part fell out of its spot but i dont know where it came from. Notebook works fine and nothing rong with it so who knows?

If u order the notebook in Canada you will be getting the US keyboard layout.
Yes the AC Adapter is of world wide use but with a head change. (Rating 110V -240V AC)
I'm not sure if Canada Ships it internationaly, Have u tried the UK (i'm sure they would have a US keyboard as well)
