Unpacking my LG S1 Express duo, i was quite happy everything was installed at first. Just turn it on and start using it. Although, already after just 3 months i been having some noticable slowdown in the speed of startup etc. Sometimes even 10 minutes to start the PC even if I tweaked the startup settings etc. Might be driver problems, Conflicts etc, but after a clean install installing ONLY the stuff i want, The laptop seems even faster than when it came out of the box...

I can only suggest people backing up their files and reinstall windows from scratch. And make a partition with the Operating system on one and Files/programs on another partition. (I usually do this on my desktop PC's since i regularry re-install the whole windows...) Even how good u are at keeping your PC clean from scrap files there will always be a time when it's time to reinstall everything.

There's just too much junk installed when unpacking the Computer.

Thanks for sharing your experience, when i did the review on the LG S1, i did notice that the bootup time was 85-90 seconds. Which I think is a long time.

Could you please tell us your bootup time using BootlogXP program.

However, i did not notice any slowdown while using the notebook itself, i was able to play games, multitask and so much more and i found zero problems, except the slow bootup time because of the amount of programs that are loaded at startup.

Well Hitting Fn + F10 to show the info screen showed 45+ mem usuage just after startup before.. closing a couple of processes took it down a bit.

Without even tweaking the startup settings now and what to load, I'm around 29-30% physical mem usage now... Could probably get it lower if i disabled some stuff to load on startup.

Maybe doesnt make a big difference but all in all I prefer knowing what's running on my PC these days. Too much spyware, Adware and other stuff. Just keeping the necessary stuff is a good way of keeping your Laptop in shape.

The system itself wasn't a lot slower, but keeping all files on one drive i noticed some lag in hard drive speed. I prefer dividing the Hard drive for that matter too. Much faster to Defragment a small partition with just the Windows and some programs installed than Defragmenting a Hard drive packed with all the files including Games, Music, Samples, Videos etc.

I will try the bootlogXP and check the time =)

Since latest re-install i noticed LG released new Drivers for the X1600 Graphics card using LG's Intelligent Update. Tryed the new drivers and did 4200 in 3D Mark 05.

Don't look at mem usage percentages. They mean nothing. Slightly more relevant is the Commit Charge (which is memory + pagefile) in the task manager. But it'd probably be more constructive to just look at the processes running, and get rid of the ones that aren't supposed to be there.

Would it be a good idea not to depend on LG Intelligent Updates for drivers? I'd like to do a clean install of Windows as well, then install the latest and greatest versions of all drivers (graphics, audio, chipset, etc) by downloading them from the manufacturer's websites.
