i just bought the lw40. so far LOVIN' it but the only gripe i have is that the screen isn't as bright as it was when i saw the LW20 on display. i never got a chance to see the LW40 on display but i assumed it would be the same.
the LW20 seemed more vibrant. sony and hp also have this screen beat by miles but this is a very fast laptop and i am happy with this purchase.
edit --- nevermind. after tinkering with the brightness levels on the GMA software, this screen is suddenly good eye-candy now.![]()

Hi
Please read my thread here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=38314
concerning the LG LW70 series
thanks -
I like to now if is possible a review of the LG P1?
Tanks -
Hey LG Man!!! I took your advice and bought an LG T1. I now have 3 LG notebooks. I think I qualify as an LG freak!! I have an LM40 (it was my first unit) and have handed that to my lovely wife. I have an LW20 that I just cannot give up, cause it rocks (travel, and personal stuff) and my new ebony and ivory (go together in perfect harmony) T1. I have to say, it is the sweetest notebook I can see. Complete strangers come up to me and say, "hey, that is a cool NB, wow, LG?" etc. Real crowd pleaser. I have only unpacked it yesterday, so I have not yet really kicked it into the ring of fire, but I will let you know. Thanks. And thanks LG, you make my life GOOD!!! Oh, and one more thing. No issues in 24 months with the LM40. And no issues with the LW20 in like 8 months.

MG, thanks for the invite to write. I would be more then willing. I have been using this T1 now for a couple days, and still love it. Give me a couple weeks to run some benchmarking, 3DMark etc, and then I will put a review together.
Cheers. -
only thing that's bad about the black/white scheme of it is that it makes the p1 model look ugly.
Take your time chiggy! Let's try to up some LG popularity around here -

How's the batterylife on a TX A2MSV?
Ive been reading 2½ hours with the standard 3-cell battery, but now i read on LG Nordic up to 8 hours with the 6-cell, so if one does some math (6-cell 3800mAh / 2 = 1900mAh, less than 3-cell 2600mAh) it should hold some 3½-4 hours, shouldn't it?
That's also what the store guessed, but they didnt have a battery in so they could only plug the AC adapter in (which is kinda weird..) -
MysticGolem Asus MVP + NBR Reviewer NBR Reviewer
ToeCutter its normal that the company would say their laptops can acheive insanly high amounts of batterylife.
The real batterylife is calculated by a human testing it under normal working circumstances. the guess of 3.5-4 hours is prolly right, you'll may be able to get 4.5 depending on settings.
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
MysticGolem:
Yeah, i know about companies and what anything they make can do
Is that your guess on the 3-cell or 6-cell battery?
Also, hasn't anyone tested the batterytime on the TX yet? /me makes formal request
And thanks for your reply MG! -
Are there any notebook in project with an AMD Turion X2 or Centrino 2 Duo? Will LG S1's users update its BIOS to work with a Centrino 2 DUo?
-
MysticGolem Asus MVP + NBR Reviewer NBR Reviewer
np, im sure the 6 cell with get close to 4.5 hours
the 3 cell about 2 hours, maybe 2.5 hours.
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
For me, I couldn't wait for that long. -
Hm, okay.. what do you think about the TX without the graphicscard, TX-42RHV, batterywise that is?
-
It'd be nice if a WSXGA+ screen was avalable in Canada, and if you guys would open up in the states. The S1 looks gorgeous, but it's such a pain to get it!
-
LG Man. Is the Duocore lineup expanding. the current line up is awesome, but would like to see more.
-
Cowboy56 the dual core line up for LG is expanding. We are bringing in the M1 into Canada as well as the LW25 12" dual core product. We will be launching a P1 at a retail of $1399 which will come with a 1gb usb memory stick. The product that I'm excited about is the S1-M001A9 which will be our top of the line dual core with 15.4 wsxga+ screen and 2gb and 100gb s-ata drive as well as an ati x1600 video. I hope this answers your question. Contact me on how you can get a free 17" LG Lcd panel.
-
Let's hope they update the range here in Aus as well. -
I've got a LG Ls50a. I've just reinstalled Windows and I had loss my CD driver. I went to www.lge.com/support/support.jsp but I couldn't find the driver. Anybody can help me ???
Thanks a lot for reading. -
I'm very impressed with the S1. I wish it would come with more options - upgradable ram, hard drive. A matte screen would be nice
Finding LG notebooks and accesories in Poland is virtualy impossible. Most stores listed on www.lge.pl don't sell LG notebooks, the ones that do have old models. I searched for my S1 for two weeks before I was able to locate one. Now I'm trying to find out if a docking station and the 9cell battery is available for S1, and no one has a clue
Other then that it is the perfect laptop
-
I wish the S1 was made out of metal.
-
yeah me 2 .. metal will make it more l33t

LG_Man: Couple of questions here. First, I've been drooling over the TX Express for the last month of so. I just wish there was a bit more info about it on the website (It doesn't even list the screen resolution, nor whether the listed battery life is with or without the Geforce 7300
)
What I'm after is mostly a low-power/ultraportable laptop as feature-rich as possible. That goes for the CPU (Hardware virtualization, 64-bit support and preferably dualcore) and the GPU (Well, the Geforce 7300 already supports Shader Model 3.0, so can't complain there). The actual performance is less important to me (and so again, the 7300 seems a good fit. Got the same features as its bigger brothers, but uses less power)
Anyway, gonna be a month or two before I'm ready to buy a notebook anyway, so a bit curious about the future plans for the TX Express.
- Have you considered an AMD-based version?
There are AMD-based motherboards with integrated graphics offering the same features as the Geforce 7300 (although performance might not match it), and I assume they'd use less power than a separate graphics card.
Also, the CPU's have 64-bit support, and with the memory controller located on the CPU, the motherboard may use less power.
So mostly, I'm curious whether you've looked into this option, as it might offer a richer featureset at lower power.
- Are we going to see an upgrade when Intel's Core 2 (Merom) processors arrive? Can you give some kind of estimate of when that will happen?
- And finally, I'm a sucker for hi-res screens. I'm wondering if there are any plans for giving the resolution a bump while staying with a 12.1" screen. I know it probably wouldn't be cost-effective, but hey, never harm in asking... -
You can buy the S1 with a matte screen now. It is the S1-M001A9. It is jacked on caffeine as well, with a faster processer, 2GB of RAM OOB and other upgrades. It is wicked fast and was just reviewed here last week.
-
I'm very impressed with the creativity of the LG folks in the design of their laptop products, however, I'm in the market for a tablet pc. i've noticed that nobody offers one with dedicated graphics. I frequently use CAD software and would like to play the occasional game but I can't seem to find the perfect machine. Since you asked for a suggestion here you go. Upgrade the LT20 with a core duo or core 2 duo with dedicated graphics solution. This would easily differentiate your product from others and from what I've seen there is high demand for a dedicated graphics solution in the tablet pc crowd.
-
i'm considering of getting the R1 but i've never used a single LG product (much less an LG laptop) in my life, so could anyone tell me anything about their LG laptops, like how durable is it? or are they are heating problems or glitches, etc.
cheers! -

Hi Zerodross. Ive just recently buyed a LG S1 laptop, and I must say that I am very pleased with it. Before this one i owned a Dell Inspiron 8600, and as for the build quality the LG is at least as good as the dell. Also the function of the laptop is superb. Various settings let you create your own profiles for performance, heat, sound level from fans, and so on.
The only problem Ive had was a crash when using the NHC(NotebookHardwareControl) and then setting the performance of the processor to max. As a solution I started using the program supplied by LG instead, and know everything runs rock solid, and very fast. -
I'm not sure if this is because of the vendor (NCIX) or LG, or, most likely, a little of both.
The LW-40 that I was sent didn't match the picture on the NCIX site; there are 3 colors for that model from LG and the site pictured the "silver & black" color and I got silver ( LG Page for the model). I don't really care about this, actually I think I prefer the silver, but some might. After noticing this, I looked at the box and saw no real indication of the color (usually it says somewhere), which is why I think it might be a combination of the vendor and LG. Since some people do make decisions on looks it would be helpful to have people know what they are getting. -
Better distribution to US. Better description of products- ** reviews, photos, etc* Looks good.... but I can't spend $2000 on anything unless I know more about it.
******Higher resolution !!!!!!!!!***
The only one I can get with a wsxga+ is a s1 for $2700+
... and that's just ridiculous. (I can buy 5-8 dell notebooks for that price)
Need wsxga or higher on cheaper alternatives (t1, p1, r1, etc... )
*integrated bluetooth*
*faster hard-drive* I can't pay $1700 for a notebook that has a 4200 rpm harddrive. ($500 dell notebooks have faster hard drives) -
I purchased and received the now discontinued S1-M001A9 a little over a month ago and love this laptop. Waiting for delivery of the 9-cell battery to supplement the 6-cell. Only issue I have is the security software provided by LG with regard to the fingerprint scanner crapped out after a couple of days. After further research, I found that this particular software version (3.5) was giving alot of trouble, but I didn't want to have to pay extra to upgrade to the new version (4.0). I feel that the newest version should have been supplied by LG, not the older, buggier version, or at least a coupon or something offered to pay for the upgrade.

I"m thinking of purchasing LG P1-JACKE in Israel. Does any one have this laptop? Any comments?
-
I believe we had a review of the LG P1 on this website not too long ago.

Hi,
I bought the LG S1-M002A9 and i really like it! I've not downsides for it.
But i have some questions about the warranty, I'm from México, and i know that this notebook has 3 years warranty, first year is true global, but what happen if the notebook dies in the second or third year?
thanks. -
where can I purchase and get support for these in the Caribbean, Dell HP, and IBM are plundering the market down here (mostly Dell)...
organize a reseller and support pipeline is somewhere like Trinidad and Tobago and your are gold!. -
LG should offer bios update and original bios backups like other companies
-
"LG should offer bios update and original bios backups like other companies"
Indeed, that's really important! -
Any comments about
LG R200-AB11V Intel Core 2 Duo T7300 2.0GHz, 2048MB DDR2, 160GB SATA HDD, 12.1" Wide ?
Anybody has this laptop? -
Yeah, cancel the stupid noncompetes and start selling these things in the US!!! I am pulling my hair out trying to get my hands on an R200-Q/SideShow. Fortunately an order this afternoon didn't go through. I found the R200-D.CBRAG shortly thereafter. T7700 in a 12.1" form factor. THAT is sweet.
