Read here in the LG forums there's mixed feelings about the quality of LG notebooks ... some rave about the notebook and feel it's outstanding quality, especially for the money. While others have the opposite opinion and experience.
The first reason it's not popular or well known is because it's not sold in USA, but I hear in Europe it's very popular and has been for some time with few reported problems from what I've read. The one thing I have noticed after typing for many months the paint will wear off the space bar, looks kind of chincy.
It's a nice laptop to use, carry and work on, it's got one of the best screens out there, keyboard is great, lot's of power it's a hard notebook not to like.
When considering the price it's very attractive, after all it's made to compete it the 13" sub notebook class, where you have the Sony Z's, x301, Protege all sold at a higher price.
If they are in fact a lower quality machine and don't hold up over the long term then I'd rather pay a little extra money and get a good one... but what?
What's your opinion, price aside is the LG a good quality notebook?

Actually i believe i remember seeing an article stating LG notebooks will be sold in the states this year. They had a Deal with Lenovo and the thinkpad range i think thats done now though...
LG notebooks are great i got to use them in Canada and they are solidly built look great and are almost always the lightest in its class. -
Future Shop has two left on clearance at $1399 cdn funds for P 310's, it's hard not to buy them for the office at that price, you can get two of them for 1 macbook air, lol.
I wonder what's next with LG, a P 320 perhaps? But that would come out in the Fall right, it's odd Future Shop has them on clearance ... maybe the economy like the guy in the store said... people are buying $600 notebooks right now... -
Maybe they are refreshing the hardware for the P310?

Imho, my P310 is better built than all the asus laptops my friends and family have had, I'd say quality is somewhat lower than thinkpad and perhaps the same as HP business line.
I LOVE the keyboard and screen! LG are famous in Europe, or at least in Sweden, for making top quality screens. -

Agree with Negative. Not as solid as my old IBM t42p thinkpad (that thing is a tank), but very good build quality, better than most of the consumer laptops I've handled.
The P310 is awesome, I highly recommend it. Screen is great, and though I would prefer a 9600 vid card and higher resolution screen (maybe WXGA+), given I paid $1,000 CDN I'm very, very pleased. The processor and RAM are fast even in Vista and I can't wait to see how it performs in XP 64. Super light and very portable. I don't remember the last time I used the optical drive so the external drive isn't an issue, it's small and light enough to bring with you if you need it.
I can't say I've gotten accustomed to the Red Wine cover yet, it's okay but I would have preferred the black and grey version (it wasn't available). Either way it really stands out.
Gaming performance with the 9300M GS won't come close to the old 8600M GS but I've heard the 8600M GS has had issues and LG's service isn't that great. I'll be posting a more thorough run through once I have a few more days to play around with it. -
Haha, yes I have the wine red too. By now I have a love/hate relationship with the looks. At least I don't see the stripes when using the computer.

I like Wine Red, i think its a fine color it especially looks good on electronics(cell phones, TV's, etc.) My Samsung Phone(old one) and my Samsung LCD both are wine red and i think its so elegant.

niffcreature ex computer dyke
haha 100%
i think its relevant that there are literally no other laptops with the 9600gt around this weight, and that is different than quality.
i think it makes electronics look like cars haha
where did you hear that if you remember? i am quite interested.

After research (mostly from the LG threads here), just got my P310 this week... and I must add that this is the best 13 inch laptop that I've owned since Asus W3. The build quality is solid, and it's amazing how light this thing is.
My only minor issue is that the bottom of the chassis gets very warm under heavy gaming stress (using ZM-NC1000 and there's no problem tho). -
Try undervolting the CPU, it really helps.

Hi, I just got RMClock working on my p310 with vistx64 installed, but was wondering if you could help me out in figuring out this undervolting business with it. Where do I change the voltage settings in the app, and what are the settings you recommend?
