I'll be heading up to Toronto tomorrow and was wondering if there are any stores (specifically in the Richmond Hill area) that has the P300 in stock. I'd love to play around with it and see it in person. I saw an old post by Coriolis saying that they have LG notebooks at the Pacific Mall... does anyone know if that store is still there?

    Thanks!

Heya, Richmond Hill? Hmmmm, your best bet would be at a Futureshop, there is one in Richmond Hill which SHOULD have a display model in stock. Pacific Mall is an interesting place to browse around anyways, largest indoor Asian mall in Canada, so it has quite a bit of imported technology(and like 500 cell phone stores heh...).

Note it has gotten a price drop to $1699 from $1799 ;)

Let me know what you think of it! I am on the verge of ordering online. Sadly, I will never have the chance to see a display model :(

alright.. I just came back from futurestore (thanks again coriolis :) ) and have to say how impressed I am with the p300. The sales guy also said he would throw in a free neoprene sleeve case too :D. The build quality is excellent and the brushed aluminium palm reat feels very similar to the dell xps1530. There is absolutely no flex i could see on the chassis. The screen is very bright, but it does produce little, very localized ripples when pressure is applied from the back. The keyboard has minimal flex and is surely above average.

There are some things I didn't like... Obviously the lack of an internal optical drive is a major pet peeve for me... The screen cover is also a bit flashy for my taste. Other than these 2 cons (which may not be cons at all for some people) I can't find anything else I didn't like. Some people mentioned that the p300 runs quite warm, but I didn't find that so. It doesn't run particularly hot nor cool.

Do you know if they have the T9500 model or just the T8300/8100's?

    Thanks emporiumboutique!

I guess that sounds like you would recommend it :)

Yeah, that purple steam rolled zebra on the back is a bit...sad...Wish one could just order it in plain black.

The front of it, I think that it is way too thin, that its scary. The back, yea, kinda ugly but its physical, it can be painted or covered.

The lack of internal drive is fine, they provide a very nice external one, thats pretty darn small and if bought separately, I'd say it'll cost $200+.

I like the whole lack of an internal drive. Saves weight and size when on the go and it looks stylish when it sits at home on ones desk :)

Too thin? What does that mean? How can it be too thin? I though that was the idea! Or is it so thin its fragile?

In my opinion, "too thin" would be something like the macbook air. The P300 never gave me the sense of being fragile, but I can understand how some may be concerned.

I just went there today and my god.... it's like I was back in Hong Kong... lol :D

On a side note, I also went to a staples store here in Richmond Hill, and was I very impressed with the sales people. They were actually honest and knowledgeable! They were talking about flex in the keyboard, screen wobble, advising people to avoid Acers (except for the new 16" 6920), as well as telling customers to wait a few more months for the new Montivena CPUs if they want a better and more future-proof notebook, etc. This is really unheard of in the US. I'm starting to really like Canada!
