I just got a R500 about three days ago, and today when I turned on the computer it just seemed to spike up often from somewhere along 25% to 98%. I am running Vista (can't find the XP cd...;; ) with about 65 processes. The fan is usually on Cool mode, if anyone assumes the heat is the problem. Most of the time it just kinda hangs at 60~85% too. Any ideas? All help is appreciated :)

Re-Install vista or your selected OS. This generally will reduce the amount of processes that run at bootup...

    Or edit them using msconfig

Start -> Run -> Msconfig [Return key]

What CPU do you have btw?

I don't think 65 processes should be too much to handle though, personally. What do you think?

    I have a 2.2ghz Core 2 Duo

There is nothing particularly wrong with 65 processes; most will be sleeping anyway.

My win98 install used to have about 18 processes at bootup.
My w2k box has about 29.
    My wXP laptop has 42.
Given that rate of progression, 65 seems about right for default vista :)
(for comparison, most linux installs typically have >80 processes running)

Use task manager to keep an eye on your processes and see which ones are spiking. It could be an LG add-on of some sort, or it could be a vista background task (like desktop search updating). You can google the name of the process to find out what it is and what it does.
