    my friend is planing to buy this laptop to use it for the following application's

    paintshop
    photoshop
    poser
    3Dmax
    maya

    do you think it will work fine

    Heh. I happen to have just received the top S1, and I also happen to use all of the programs except Paintshop. Currently I have Photoshop and 3ds Max installed. Unfortunately, I don't have a dedicated mouse, yet, so I can't fully test them out. From the short time I spent in 3ds Max, it seems to equal at least my desktop with X800XT doing some simple things. If he's not willing to spend thousands more on a dedicated workstation-class laptop, then the S1 will do perfectly fine.
