I'm seriously considering to get the LG T1. It'll mostly be used for university and photoshopping, some webdesign 'cause im into photography, but not gaming or anything.

However there are a couple concerns: I'm unsure whether it the 4200RPM HD will be a negative factor in my situation. I have an external hardrive that i use to store my important files so, i dont plan on storing a whole lot on the laptops hardrive.

Another concern is the durability of the laptop and that it doesnt have a latch to lock it close. I'm totally in love with the design and will for sure go out of my way to take care of it. But since likely i will be traveling with it mostly to and from school, is it practical? what are your thoughts and experiences on its durability. is it really fragile? i dont intend on just dumping it in my school bag and away i go or anything. im just hoping that its reasonably sturdy and with proper care it'll last me a good few years.

I had the same corcerns as you do before buying the T1.
    (see http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=50162 )

The slow HD really doesn't bother me.. Not that I have engaged in photoshopping on it yet, but it's really fast enough for normal use.. It even boots quite quickly. If you're using an external HD for your photos, you shouldn't even notice it.

I wouldn't say it's that fragile.. I hear it scratches easily, but I haven't seen any scratches on mine yet, so it's not that easy.
The lid stays firmly shut without a latch. You can hold it upside down, the screen doesn't move. When you open the lid, you have to hold down the bottom for it to open.. It's very functional and elegant!
Overall it feels very solid and compact.. and oh so pretty.

the 4200 RPM is a little slow, but whats an extra 3 seconds to load a program? as for the durability, even tho its thin, the lid stays close when u close it. but if you flip the lappy upside down, which i dont know why you will. it does swing open about .5-.75cm. i turned it over to see :) but yea. its not a fragile lappy like other thin lappys out there. as long as you dont abuse it, you should be fine.

if you have any questions about the T1 let me know. i will try and answer them to the best of my ability.

Thanks a lot. That's reassuring. i'm waiting for the T1 to come in 'cause it's currently out of stock. There's only one location i know of where i live that is selling this model. however i have concerns about the store's credit, since its not large and only has 1 branch in my city. I know this topic has been discussed before, but i was wondering how i can get the info to find out that it is a legit store so that my warranty doesnt become void. I've already checked LG's site and the only dealer listed are future shop and london drugs and unfortunately they dont sell LG notebooks.

Also, in regards to LG's warranty, does anyone know what their service is like? is their contact line toll free? is their service easy reliable and friendly? i would hate having to deal with a company where id send off a defective product and not hear from them or have trouble getting a hold of anyone that sort of thing. (obviously i've never really had to deal with these types of situations often so im just being over cautious maybe) what are other's thoughts or experiences with LG?
