Heya all, I bought an LG T1 a few days ago, and it was all nice and stuff. today I left work, and put my comp into hibernate before packing up and leaving work. when I got home, I tried turning it on, but it doesnt turn on.

so if I have it plugged with AC only, the light saying AC is connected stays on. and when i press power, the cd light and power light blinks(like a quick flash), and thats all. then it doesnt do that anymore even if i press power again. if i'm connected as battery only, i get a flash everytime i press the power. and if both AC and battery, it's the same deal as if only AC is connected.

so I'm sorta stuck on this, I've never owned a laptop before, and could use some insight. is there like a hard reset button to drain the capacitors or something? I was hoping to maybe leave everything unplugged(battery/AC) over night, and try again tommorow.

I am no computer engineer, but you can try troubleshooting:
    - you DO have power, thats for sure
    - has there been a power outage while you were gone? A power surge can kill your unit.
    - try plugging the AC adapter alone to check that its running. make sure the battery contacts are clean and free of debris
    - is it hot at all, perhaps near the power supply or RAM while its in hibernation?

Laptops generally dont have such reset buttons, at least not that I know of.
These points may not help b/c they seem obvious, but I wish you the best of luck ;)

well I've tried withAC only, Battery Only, and AC and battery connected, but no go =/

and it hasnt been plugged in since i left work. i usually have it plugged in at work, so batteries should be close to full as well.

but yea, i'll try having it plugged in, and see if it's warm at all. I just woke up, and it has been 6 hours without battery or AC plugged into it, and it's still not turning on =/

bleh this sorta sucks lol, I had some projects I was working on in the Hdd, and I gotta figure a way to get at the files if i need to rma it.

    nard,

I have no experience using the "hibernate" mode. I ususally either "stand by" it for a few minutes/couple of hours or turn it off, for longer periods.

But surely there must be a combination of keys, either to bring it back to life or to turn it off (stupid question: have you tried holding down the power button for a little longer?).

Finally, from what I understand (probably wrong), hibernating means saving your workspace into virtual memory, then when it boots, windows reads off that content for a quick start. As a desperate attempt, can you open the DVD drive (you said the drive blinks)? Try sticking in a windows install CD, or something that may make it try to boot from and see what happens. If it works you can just cancel the process half-way through.

    In any case, good luck!!!

    All the best.

nah, I've tried opening cd rom drive, but no go. and I did try holding power button longer.

but yea, for some really odd reason, when I came into work today, which is like 1-2hours since i last posted here, it decided to turn on again with battery alone lol. so i was like omg! and i backed up my work, which was really good.

I'm sorta scared to turn it off at the moment since i want to use the laptop at work. I've tried plugging in the AC. and it knows AC is connected. but battery is at 97% and it doesnt say it's charging the battery with AC connected. so I'm not too sure, maybe ill run the battery lower, without ac, and see if it will charge.

thanks for all the advice people!

Has anyone else had problems with hibernation on the T1? I'm afraid of doing it to mine, after reading this thread...
