I don't think the S1-P555K is available here yet, at least I haven't come across it.

    Hi Guys,
    Three Questions:
    1) I can't help noticing that some people are saying WXGA and others are saying WSXGA...I checked LG's website and it says WSXGA so is there two versions out in the market?
    2) Is the CPU accessible? Meaning can I change the processor in the future if I wanted to (Memron/Intel Duo Core 2 compatible)?
    3) I noticed a person mentioning something about weak ati driver support is this true?

    Thanks in advance guys :)

    1) Yes there are 2 versions out. It depends on the country I think..
    3) Yeah, they haven't updated any of their drivers yet, but you can just download the omega ones or any other equivalent and the ati card will work fine.

In theory it's switchable, but I doubt that many people with an S1 have tried to fiddle with their CPU yet, so you'll have to wait on that answer. Also, it's quite likely that a bios update will be necessary, and judging by LG's complete lack of driver updates so far, I wouldn't hold my breath over a new bios, but who knows..

I found some tests on internet about to replace Core Duo with Merom, on a Dell and on a Fujitsu-Siemenes laptops, and they didn't need a bios update.

since the Merom is coming out soon and Yonah's "expected" price cuts, how long do you think it'll be before the S1 gets a corresponding price cut?

    Hello.

Back to the driver issues a bit... Has anyone tried to update the S1 with the newest ATI Catalyst (version 6.8)? Or is it absolytely mandatory to wait the LG driver updates (if they ever come out, heh)?

I just noticed this little tool:
    http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/

I also send the author a question whether the tool will work with X1600.

    Cheers,
    sleil

I wish I had never read the original review.

I bought the high end S1-P400A9 and it sucks. It may look pretty but it's absolutely worthless if you can't turn the stupid thing on.

Withing the first 2 weeks of use, the power button broke. Turning my $2000+ laptop into a $2000+ paper weight.

I returned my laptop to LG and that was the last I've seen of it. It's been almost 3 months and still nothing. I asked if it was possible to to get a refund and now LG won't even answer my emails.

    My review...
