LG S1 (Selene)(T2500)(2x1GB DDR2667)(x1600 512MB)(WXGA)(100GB 5400) -
Hi Guys,
Three Questions:
1) I can't help noticing that some people are saying WXGA and others are saying WSXGA...I checked LG's website and it says WSXGA so is there two versions out in the market?
2) Is the CPU accessible? Meaning can I change the processor in the future if I wanted to (Memron/Intel Duo Core 2 compatible)?
3) I noticed a person mentioning something about weak ati driver support is this true?
Thanks in advance guys -
1) They onli hav glossy version available in WXGA, WSXGA versions r matte. So wat u want?
2) Dunno
3) It's just that u cant find any driver updates for the X1600, hopefully in the future we ll have one. -
1) Yes there are 2 versions out. It depends on the country I think..
3) Yeah, they haven't updated any of their drivers yet, but you can just download the omega ones or any other equivalent and the ati card will work fine. -
Thanks for the quick response final question is about the CPU if anyone can help me on that would be great!
-
In theory it's switchable, but I doubt that many people with an S1 have tried to fiddle with their CPU yet, so you'll have to wait on that answer. Also, it's quite likely that a bios update will be necessary, and judging by LG's complete lack of driver updates so far, I wouldn't hold my breath over a new bios, but who knows..

Thanks for the info kensuke but with the announcement of core duo2 to be released in August I guess I will wait for them to come out then decide on what laptop I want
-
I found some tests on internet about to replace Core Duo with Merom, on a Dell and on a Fujitsu-Siemenes laptops, and they didn't need a bios update.
-
..or which FSC-Modell is meaning in the Test! -
correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the Merom not out yet? So how come there is any tests at all at the moment?
-
since the Merom is coming out soon and Yonah's "expected" price cuts, how long do you think it'll be before the S1 gets a corresponding price cut?
-
what do you think is better the S1-P400A9 or the S1-M001A9 ???
-
teh S1-M001A9
-
What is the max memory for S1-M001A9 can upgrade to?
-
Is that a 15.4" with a numpad????????
I would buy it just for the numpad!!!!!!
but, it's too expensive. So, thanks, but no thanks
Awesome review, my friend. Big props. -
the previous cheaper generation ..ie LG lw65 also have the numpad..and it's pretty cheap... 1.4k canadian wit x700 graphics ? But u already have a notebook, but will it hurt to have 2 ?

Hello.
Back to the driver issues a bit... Has anyone tried to update the S1 with the newest ATI Catalyst (version 6.8)? Or is it absolytely mandatory to wait the LG driver updates (if they ever come out, heh)?
I just noticed this little tool:
http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/
I also send the author a question whether the tool will work with X1600.
Cheers,

I wish I had never read the original review.
I bought the high end S1-P400A9 and it sucks. It may look pretty but it's absolutely worthless if you can't turn the stupid thing on.
Withing the first 2 weeks of use, the power button broke. Turning my $2000+ laptop into a $2000+ paper weight.
I returned my laptop to LG and that was the last I've seen of it. It's been almost 3 months and still nothing. I asked if it was possible to to get a refund and now LG won't even answer my emails.
