LM70 vs LS70

Hey all,

I'm buying my first laptop and I need little advice deciding which one I should get. I have narroved my options down to two LG models: LM 70 and LS 70. Here's specs for those too:

LM70:

Pentium M 740
512MB DDR II
60.0 GB
15.0", 1024x768 resolution
Intel GMA 900
DVD-RW etc.
2.3kg
3 years warranty

LS70:

Pentium M 750
512MB DDR II
80.0 GB
15.0", 1400x1050 resolution
Radeon X600
DVD-RW etc.
2.7kg
2 years warranty

And they both costs about 1600 euros.

I have some guestions about these two laptops:

How's battery life on LS70? I haven't seen a word about it anywhere. I read that LM70 has battery life around 4h. This is rather important feature for me so it would be good to know.

Does LS70 has plastic feeling or is it well build? LM70 has magnesium body so I guess that's well build.

How much better is screen on LS70 than LM70? I haven't had notebook before and I haven't even used TFT monitors before so I don't really have anything to compare this to. Better screen is pretty much only thing that speaks for the LS70.

Something else I should know about LG before making my order?

I don't really care about games or any 3D things so that Radeon X600 is pretty much useless for me, right? Bigger hard drive on LS70 isn't that big deal either but I do like better screen that LS70 has. Now LM70 is lighter, smaller and looks better too. I do need to carry my laptop with me time to time so lighter laptop would be good.

So which one would you recommend: LS70 or LM70? It's really hard to find information specially about LS70 so if anyone has that laptop here, it would be great to hear about it. I've read pretty much all information about these laptops that I could find but I still can't decide which one I should get. Oh, and I'll order it online and I can't go and check what the screens or anything look like before hand, so all information is really appreciated.

I dont like to see same type questions like "which one I should get"...it can change in all conditions, how can I or someone know other one s desires,goals with a notebook? lot s of questions coming with questions like..

Fiffy, thanks for the information. Is that 2.5h battery life with or without WiFi? Sounds bit low. LG website says 5h for LM70 but I doubt if it can stay on so long. And did you find any reviews of LS70? And how about noise?

I also read that LM70 review from this site and I'm little bit concerned about heat and battery after reading it. Althought the model that was reviewed had Radeon X600 and faster processor than what I'm currently looking for so those probably make bit more heat than Intel integrated video card and slower processor.

I myself own a LS series notebook and boy do they do wonders. When the LW70's came out i felt as if i need to upgrade to this, but now i know why i opted for the LS series, Sleek Stylish and LIGHT!!! I get about over 4hrs with the Wireless on and brightness down to about half. Processor set to max battery. But thats on a LS50. Not sure about the LW series.

 

Thanks for the info, Xplodin. Nevertheless all positive posts about LS70, I decided to order LG LM70 because of it's smaller size and lighter weight. Now I just can't wait to get it!

 

What type of display does the LG LS70 use, matte or glossy?

How about the viewing angles on the LS70 display? Are they any good? What panel does the LS70 use?

 

Hello!

i have an lm70 with radeon x600 since about a month. i'm quite pleased with its quality it isn't supersilent but never loud. The battery time with wlan on and watching DVD was about 2 hours. it is not very much but it is ok for a that kind of notebook.

The LM70 is getting hot on the underside but i think it is not getting too hot and i'm really pleased with the quality of the Chassis. it is rockstable and looks great. One thing that i noticed is the Express card slot and i didnt find a lot of express cards on the market yet.

And about the Price i think the LS70 is in Austria/germany about 200€ cheaper an costs about 1300€ (both with 1,73 ghz 512 ram x600 and the SXGA screen)
