    Hi All,

I have an LW-60 DBJA that wont boot.

It goes into the safe menu; but non of those options work.

I dont have a floppy drive either so I can't load the SATA drivers to do a re-install.

Does anyone know of anything that could help!

    Cheers

Have you tried to boot from the recovery CD and then Repair your installation of Windows Xp ?

    Hi there,

Thanks for the replies; yes the last driver is mup and no I havent made any bios changes.

I have a feeling I wont be able to do a fresh install either because it wont have the sata drivers :-(

    Anything else I can try?

The screen is nice, but I havent had much to compare it to,

    Cheers

I have tried the LG Recovery CD; however I cant seem to get it into recovery mode.

    I can't try automated recovery because I don't have a floppy drive.

The install does not work because it does'nt see that there is alreay a WinXP install on the disk. The partitions seem to be marked as unrecignized.

This maybe because it doesnt have the SATA driver loaded.

Any other ideas would be great.

    Cheers

Put the Recovery Cd and boot, and go into the XP setup just like you would be making a fresh install, and then you will see an option to go for Recovery. If that doesnt work, I am sorry, i think it's time for a fresh install.

when you try safe mode what is the last driver that appears? mup.sys? did you got in the bios and made a change?

by the way, your lw60 has the 1200x800 glare type lcd? how good is it compared to other brands?

it stops in mup when there are changes in the bios configuration saved in ESCD, if you search in the web for this you will see a million reasons to that issue but all are nonsense, try to load bios defaults and if it doesn't start ... you need to reinstall windows xp, sorry

ps: i heard some windows sp2 updates can lead to this situation also but that info i haven't seen demonstrated.

Ended up having to do a complete re-install.

Looks like the LW60-DBJA does'nt come with SATA disks after all :-(

Even though it says so on the decals stuck to the laptop :-(

Does anyone else have a SATA disk in there LW60; If so what model do you have?

    Cheers

As of right now the models listed below all have pata drives.
    LW70-P5X6CU1
    LW70-P5X6CF1
    LW70-45X6CU1
    LW70-45X6CF1
    LW60-DBJU1
    LW60-DBJF1

The only unit with Sata is the LM70 in Canada.

yes i also found out my lw70 has a pata hdd too. if you read the labels very carefully it says 'selected models' in the sata box... [ :(]
however i did cotact lg australia about this and i got some excellent response - the m/bd is wired for sata hdd but they are currently using a sata to pata adapter due to lack of sata hdd and high cost, the pata hdd actually runs faster in this mode than it would using a standard pata interface and the option to upgrade to larger sata hdd's the future is there...
i was offered a full refund for my lw70 if i was not happy i also had an apology for any misunderstanding.
i'm keeping my lw70, it's perfect in every way, i can live with this setup very easily
