Hello, About to buy a refurbished LG P300 ( saving around $500-$700), than found out that all Nvidia GPU are faulty? Im only getting a 90 Day warranty, Is the gpu defections blown out of proportion or what? Don't know what to do now, Should i stay away from this magnificent machine because it has a 8600-GS?![]()
I hear all great reviews from this machine, however it seems one poster is having problems with his card, but he has at least 1 year warranty

They aren't all faulty. Luck of the draw really.
-
I don't think i can gamble CAD $1140 for it to work or not
-
I bought a laptop with the 8600M GS in it, and, while the laptop itself was totally f**ked, the GPU lasted a long time and even after I overclocked it, it still ran great through all that stress. Really, it is luck of the draw. If you don't wanna gamble it away, then don't buy the laptop. Personally, for a good price, I would probably buy it. But I might be inclined to go for a newer laptop for the same price.
But it is luck of the draw. -
So your saying their is no way of finding out which are the faulty ones? well ill have 7 days to return it, ill buy it and check the cooling system on it,
Btw is it possible to buy some sort of warranty from LG? -
I'd go with the Asus N80 instead for the 2 year warranty and smiliar price, better gfx. It is of course nowhere near as compact as the LG. Having said that, i myself bought the LG P310 and love it. But the 90 day warranty is just not good enough, especially with a gfx card known to be faulty.

yeah man I would forget it just cause of the warranty. And since the notebook itself is no longer covered by the manufacturer (I'm assuming), you can't purchase an extended warranty through LG. 90 days is just too risky with laptops (especially what I'VE been through with HP, don't get me started!)
-
Yea i was planning to get the N80 but i like the 13.3 laptops, something light and powerful
-
P300 is beautiful but I would be against purchasing a refurbished notebook.
I just don't trust other people on how they take care of their notebooks.
I'd spend the extra money to get myself a new one if your going to spend over 1000$. -
I agree c2, however the laptop was refurbished by LG
-
so you're getting a 90 day warranty through LG? Hmm, makes me wonder if you could purchase an extended warranty through LG (not saying whether I'm in favour of extended warranties or not, I'm just saying if you wanted to you could). But my assumption is that it wouldn't be applicable to an extended warranty since it's been refurbished. Anyone else know?

I asked LG and they do not offer extended warranty's on refurbished goods, 90 days is the most. Also i plan to buy it using Visa, which should double the warranty to 180days (Visa covers refurbished goods too)
