Hi,
I have a LG P1 Express Dual with 1 GB (512+512) DDR2 667MHz. I thought that 4GB was the maximum memory because I call to LG and they told me that; Crucial also says the same. Anyway I read some posts in this forum which tell that windows XP didn't recognize 4GB and the system would not boot and the maximum was 3GB.
I'm confused... anyone of you have already installed 4GB with success?
Thanx, MP

From what I know 4GB is only recognized with Vista/Linux and I guess OS X. XP doesn't go past 3GB. But I don't fully understand your question... Are you expecting your XP to show that you have 3GB of memory when you have only 2x512 installed?

My question is: With XP and with 4GB, the system will boot normally but the OS only recognize 3GB or the OS simply won't boot?
Thanx -
You need a 64-bit operating system to address and use 4GB or more of memory as 32-bit operating systems have memory address limitations. XP has a x64 Professional Edition, while Vista has a 64-bit edition for all versions above Basic; you just need a 64-bit CPU and the 64-bit drivers. See Lithus's 64-bit guide in the Windows forum for a more detailed explanation of this limitation.
