    Apologies if this has been explained before but I had a look and could not find any specific info.

    Just got a brand spanking new LG S1-J2C3AB and am putting it through its paces. This model comes with 1Gig of ram (2 X 512) but I need more, so I purchased a 1GB stick of Kingston memory to go in it.

    I've replaced the 512MB module in the standard location under the case, but noticed that the other slot/stick is not located here. The specs say that memory can be expanded to 4GB so where is the other slot? Do you have to crack the case to get at it and if so, does this void the warranty?

    Not that I need more at this particular moment, but I will be upgrading to at least 2GB total within the next 6 months, and I need to know where the other stick goes. I found the LG site very lean on information, and can't seem to find this info anywhere.

    Thanks

    Its located under the keyboard, to get to it;

    undo the screws for the keyboard under the laptop, then at the top of the keyboard you will see little white clips holding the keyboard in.

    Get a small screwdriver and push these down under the keyboard (there is 4 of them). You should beable to lift the keyboard out now (becareful as there is a cable connecting keyboard to the mobo.

    Yea, it probably will void your warranty. But that's only if you leave identifiable traces behind. Be warned that they sometime have seals in place that, if broken, will indicate a voided warranty.
