I'll translate some of the more important stuff since I speak fluent Korean (I'll personally 'apologize' for the huge images too, since Korea has such fast internet speeds so we're used to that kinda stuff. :

LG presents its new trio of laptops based on the Intel Centrino 2 (Montevina) Platform.

Of the three laptops recently announced by LG, the one attracting the most attention is the XNote S510, which targets business level users by providing exceptional performance and productivity.

The XNote S510 has a LED backlit 15.4" display and is equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (T9400) and an nVidia 9600M GT 512MB. The display has a resolution of 1440x900 (WXGA+) and the laptop contatins 2GB of DDR3 1066mhz. The S510 has a 2.0 megapixel webcame with stereo-capable micropones and a 320GB 5400rpm SATA hard drive.

The R510 and the R410 are targeted toward the prosumer crowd with the option of both WSXGA+(1680x1050) and WXGA(1280x800) screens.

The R510 is equipped with a Core 2 Duo T9400, between 1-4GB of PC2-6400 RAM, between 250-320GB of hard drive space. 3D processing is provided by the nVidia GeForce 9600M GS (256MB) chip. The R510 has a full 98-key keyboard, including a keypad.

The R510 is the 15.4" model and the R410 is the 14" model.
Both are equipped with 1.5W speakers on the left and right side, making for 3W total.

Users of the R410 have the option of a 9300M GS (256MB) or the Intel X4500 IGP. The R410 has a 1.3MP camera.

The German LG site mentions a 12", 13", and 17"

I've owned a P300 for a short time and love it in every respect ... I'm sold on LG ...

I'm looking for a Canadian release date too.

Only thing we have to decide is which one to buy, the R510 or the S510... we're primarily business users so the R510 would make more sense ... but we like the latest/greatest/fastest and want options for multi media uses too so we'll likely get the S510 when it comes out.

What's the 'best' comparing the S510/R510 ... the size/weight is about the same ...

    Thanks!

I emailed LG Canada. They replied promptly and said the S510 and R510 are both confirmed coming to Canada "soon" they can't say exactly what date.

When you right above it's a "monster" of a machine ... you're all referring to performance right? The few 15" LG notebooks I've seen in real life looked really thin and light compared to their counterparts - Dell, IBM etc - am I right?

I'm jealous of you Canadians and Germans, LG produce laptops which match my requirements so perfectly (first the P300 and now the S510!), but I'm in the UK :(

    About this laptop (S510).

Just got it today, haven't had the time to do any kind of benchmarks. But it runs very well. In silent mode the fan is very very silent.
Screen is amazing, very bright, zero grainess, vivid colors but not saturated. I've been using it at about 60% brightness indoors.

Build quality seems pretty good. Almost no flex in the body or keyboard. Just a little bit in the right hand rest, but it needs a bit of pressure and it's hardly noticeable.

Screen on the other hand appears to be a bit easy to press on (you can see the cover bending a bit) but unlike most laptops I've seen, this as no effect in the screen itself, no ripples, which I look at as a good sign.

Battery needs more testing but I've been using it for more than 2 hours to surf the web, and install some programs. So It seems good too.

As far as keyboard and touchpad goes, can't really say much. Standard laptop keyboard in terms of touch, same goes for touchpad, no negative points though.

For now I can't say much more. But no regrets about anything in the laptop. I'm very happy with it. Even the speakers have pretty standard notebook sound (even if they are under the laptop), not great, no bass but also no distortion.

Hope by tomorrow I have some benchmarks to report. Do you have any benchmarks I might try? Besides the usual 3dmark06 and Pcmark.

By the way is there a way to benchmark screen brightness?

congrat's on your 510 ... we sure hope it comes to Canada.

question: how is it for size/wieght/form factor? I'm hoping it's noticably thinner/lighter than comparible Dell/Lenovo's in the same screen size?

I've bought in Portugal where I live. My keyboard is therefore Portuguese :)

I can't really compare it to Dell or Lenovo products since they don't sell much here, specially lenovo. But I've posted an incomplete review about this notebook here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=298733 it has information about size and weight and a size comparison with a 13" Sony Vaio SZ1VP

After several calls to LG service centre, LG Sales dept & Harvey Norman that sold the PC, they all are not able to affirm that the R410 comes with LED backlight, even after checking with Korea.

This is contrary to what was claimed in their sales brochure.

They are also not willing to give a full refund.

This looks like an issue to be taken up with CASE for misrepresentation and misleading advertisement with the intention to cheat the consumers.

    In the meantime, consumers beware!
