Ok, I posted in the Hardware components board about how the heat of my laptop worries me a bit, and the suggestion was to open it up and try cleaning the fans. I read the guide on how to go about doing that, but I noticed that in the guide, the laptop on display had a lid on the fan that could easily be removed. I flipped over my S1 and found that the entire base is one big piece. Has anyone opened the S1 before, and if so, is it just a simple matter of removing all the screws, or are there little latches I need to press? (kind of like when you remove the keyboard, there are those little switches you need to press.. that kind of thing). Thanks!

Sorry, even if I do have an S1, I have yet to have the urge to open it as it might void LG's warranty.

I would suggest that with your notebook's powered off, use a vacuum cleaner to try to suck the dust out.

Otherwise, if you are having heat problems, send it in for warranty.(my 2 cents)

I haven't opened it yet. But I wouldn't send it to warranty just because of dust. You cant void your warranty simple by oppening, it only voids if you remove sealed parts, like the CPU or things like that.

There is two screws on the underside that each has a picture of a keyboad.. Unscrew them. Then, on the top side, along the top of the keyboard, you'll see 4 little indents, and if you look closer, you'll see a small button at each. Use a small flat head screw driver to gently push them - the keyboard should pop up. Then just lift the keyboard by the top and it will come out quite easily (there are 5 latches along the bottom).

EDIT - Well, thanks to riggi, I decided to lift up my keyboard again and realised that it completely exposed the fan. I blew some compressed air in and managed to remove large chunks of dust, so that has improved my laptop's heat problem!

Thanks kensuke. I'll do that as well ... I vacumed the fan a while back becouse i had some major heat issues, and out came a dustball the size of a hamster. There's probably more of them, so I'll be removing the keyboard asap before they reproduce :p
