I am thinking of buying the LG T5750 (E300) laptop. I was debating between the LG and the Toshiba U400 T5750. Both are 13.3 inches, but I did not like the glossy finish on the toshiba, specially on the keyboard.
If anyone has the LG t5750, or knows anything about it, any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
I just want to know if the LG is a good buy, whether its durable and things of that nature...

i have the e300 and i love it. it's fast, very stable, reliable, and durable. i haven't had any problems with it at all.
battery life seems a bit short (a few hours), but since i'm always plugged into the outlet, this isn't a concern for me.
also, if you play any games, the integrated graphics might not be good enough for you.
overall, build quality is excellent.
if you have any specific questions, i can try to answer them for you. -
I recently bought this laptop (LG E300). It's a great 13.3 inch laptop with great value. I personally love this laptop.
There are a few things that I should point out that ranges from either tolerable to somewhat of a nuisance.
1. Probably the most problematic aspect of this laptop, the amount of heat it produces. I don't recommend using this laptop on your lap as it does get extremely hot (while plugged-in or on battery). The bottom of the laptop is very hot. It idles at approximately 50 degree C. While running graphic intensive software, the temperature can shoot up to 90. The right palm rest area also becomes very hot. I haven't taken apart the laptop yet, but I assume that's where the hard drive is located. Overall, it's a hot running laptop.
2. There is no dedicated volume rocker on the laptop. To change volume you have to toggle with the Fn key using the up and down arrow. That's an inconvenience for me because on my previous toshiba notebook, there was a dedicated volume rocker that I can quickly use to change the volume on the notebook. Sometimes I'm not sure whether I actually change the volume or not as there are no onscreen indicators.
3. The left shift key is too small. I type by using the left shift key a lot and to have the left shift key that small is kind of a nuisance. Especially considering that beside the shift key is the "\" key, which I often press by accident. Reaching for the left shift key is an unnatural feeling and it took me a few weeks to get used to. It really does slow you down when you type long documents.
4. I tried out the mic and the webcam for video call on IM services and the webcam worked fine, but the location of the mic is questionable. Too often I find myself putting my hand over the mic. The mic should be put on top of the screen beside the webcam.
5. As mentioned above, the battery life is something to be desired. It's not disappointingly short, nor is it spectacular. I normally get 2:10, depending on the screen brightness, from a 100% charge.
All in all, these are issues that I took notice of after owning the notebook for about a month. To me, these are minor shortcomings that shouldn't detract from the great value and quality of this notebook. The positive aspects of this laptop is numerous and way many to list. -
I just bought this last friday, and I think its an amazing notebook. I was trying to find reviews about it but there are none, almost nothing on the forum about this laptop so I think it must be new.
There are some things that Ii don`t like about this notebook:
1) Keyboard is very difficult to use, left shift key is too small.
2) Has a big enter key, and when I press enter I end up hitting the backslash and enter key. Probably because I`ve used an Acer laptop keyboard for so long where the enter key is rectangular.
I haven`t used it long enough but I can`t really find anything wrong with it. I just wish I could find a keyboard protector for this thing. -
the hard drive right under the right palm rest area. if you flip the laptop over, you can see the cover and a small label indicating the hard drive.
i agree it does run a little hot, but i've never used any other laptop, so i wasn't sure if this was normal or not. in any case, it might have to do with the fan. i have mine set to 'normal', and it's barely audible, which, i suppose, could be a good thing.
i don't have a problem with the left shift key, even though i use it frequently. the one key that did give me trouble at first was the backslash. it's to the left of the enter key and not above it (like on most keyboards), so i used to hit '\' when i meant to hit enter. i've grown accustomed to this layout now.
i do like how the home and end keys are right by the arrow keys. it makes navigation much easier. -
Hi there,
I actually have the exact same dilemma as mike_99.
What I'm also concerned is that, does anyone know the hard drive's RPM of the LG laptop? Future shop didn't specify it, although I would guess 4200.
