What about that whole 8600M in a 3.5lb chassis thing? How hot does it get, and how bad is the battery life? It'll be interesting to see it in the US though.

On another note, will this be the first LG notebook officially available in the US? Cause thus far, we've only been able to get LG notebooks from Canadian resellers, as far as I know, and thats made things a lot more expensive than they should be.

If there's one thing with laptops, you always have to sacrifice a sweet feature for another, will people sacrifice battery life and an optical drive for a more powerful GPU in a 13.3"?

I am willing to sacrifice a bit of battery life in exchange of performance but I don't want to sacrifice an optical drive. I want to watch movies or access other files on a CD/DVD while on the go. Having to carry an extra optical drive is too much of inconvenience. Not to mention that it doesn't look elegant or ugly.

They should include the optical drive in the laptop. It may bump the weight from 3.5 to 4 pounds but I am willing to sacrifice 0.5 pounds in exchange of an internal drive.

I think Sony SZ is still the winner when it comes to balancing power, portability and battery life. My 13.3" Sony SZ381 is only 3.7 pounds (3.3 if you take out the battery) and it comes with an optical drive. You can use Nvidia video card for performance or switch to Intel GMA for longer battery life.
