    Hi,
    I installed the omega drivers, I OC'ed a bit, Core at 452 and memory at 466.
    The 3dmark05 score is now : 4448.
    But, Is it actually safe to leave it overclocked at those speeds all the time? (maybe higher).

    for AP27: You got a very nice 3dmark score but is that safe? (3D Mark05: 4293 (418/463) || 4958 @ (510/508) )

    Thanks! :D

    It doesn't look like you've overclocked so much that you're in danger of overheating... But any time you OC you are moving further toward or in many cases exceeding the engineered tolerance of the hardware. Be careful about overclocking especially on laptops, because the increased heat can often overload the cramped cooling system and lead to premature failure.

    That all being said and done, you're safe. I wouldn't go any higher personally, the performance increase in games and the like will be so minor compared to the risk of killing your box that it doesn't strike me as a worthwhile risk.

    The 510/508 config i set up was only to test the limits of my X1600. It is pretty much the absolute limit it can go. Any higher and my 3DMark05 scores drop (probably due to the card throttling down). ATi has stated the engineered tolerance of the card is 470/470, so you should be fine at 452/468. I leave mine on the default 418/465 when i game, unless im playing something demaning, then i turn it up to around 460/465 (with the fan speed set to high). The 510/508 was purely a test :) I was trying to hit 5000, but i wont be able to without some additional cooling (like placing my laptop next to an air conditioning vent...dont worry..im not going to try that :p )

    thanks.

    If its really overheating then yea it shuts down or restarts. Usually it just throttles the clockspeeds down till the temperature drops.
