    Hello every1
I have recently bought LG R500 with following spec
    2.2C2D 4mb cache, 800Mhz
    4GB Ram
    250Gb Hardisk
    Nvidia 8600M GS 256MB dedicated

Now thing is, my GPU is running at temp of 50 -53C on normal , meaning not playing any games or heavy tasks,,,CPU temp also reaches 50-54C....I have set Fan to cool mode aka running at its max speed. As I have read abt Nvidia failing chips, im getting curious and :( .... I wanna know is this temp for GPU is ok??? and or is there some update for LG R500 BIOS ? I am using latest drivers from Nvidia website....

Sounds about right for a idling 8600m. It's your temperatures under load that matter the most. What are they?

I havent put it under heavy stress yet. Those issues with Nvidia cards which ive read on websites including here is kinda freaking me out honestly.... I guess max temp was 57 when I was installing office in it and trasnfering files from other pc through LAN.....
Also is there way to control GPU fan speed? in this LG R500, area that gets max hot as comparing to rest areas is where RAM is located
I was also wondering if there are BIOS updates for LG R500...LG own site isnt helping much

Same thing I had. Everyone said it was normal, so did LG. I continued with it, yes the R500 gets pretty dam hot on the bottom by the CPU and RAM. Just a while ago my R500 died, Faulty Nvidia GPU, lasted for 1 year and 4 months just a bit over the warranty. Luckily I bought on visa so its 2 years extended warranty. So they are going to cover it, they don't want to ship so they are probably just gonna give me a full credit refund. But yes the R500 made me nervous too. Its a nice laptop, I just didn't like the feel of how hot it gets. My new laptop reaches simular temperatures, quite a bit lower, but its case/bottom never gets hotter than warm. And if it starts to get really hot the fan kicks in and the gpu slides down a lot.

As for the faulty nvidia thing. They are in all/most of the old 8600M GTs. Best thing you can do is just go with the flow and hope if you got a faulty one that it dies before your warranty ends.
