I've been hearing that the screens (both WSXGA+ and WXGA) on the S1 are rather sub-par, and I'm wondering if this is true, or whether this is just a bunch of rumor. Thanks for any confirmations.

What do you mean exactly by sub-par though? I've had an S1 for a while now and it's brighter than my Acer 2012.. The res is the same though (1280x800).

As in it's not very bright and has some leakage issues.

I've had the S1 for a couple of months now. In my opinion the screen is very bright, as for leakage issues, not sure what you mean but yes, I can see a thin light strip at the bottom of the lcd when the screen is black - i.e. when the computer boots up. That does not bother me in anyway and I don't consider this to be a problem, though :) If you are terribly picky about screen quality - go for a Sony. I think the S1 is in the upper middle class when it comes to screen quality.

Good to know that it's not that bad. I'm not picky at all when it comes to screens, but I heard that the S1 had some really nasty issues with leakage. Guess I was wrong. Now the more difficult task of getting one of these laptops in the States with a WSXGA screen...
