Hi all, this q'n is for anyone who owns the LG T1 ... I'd like to get a protective sleeve for mine, for when I'm carrying it around. Could anyone recommend one that would fit this laptop? It's quite thin and 14" so I'm not sure what the best option would be, or even if there is one that would fit well (and not look totally crappy :D)

    Dimensions are, FWIW: 334mm x 240mm x 21.5 mm
    or 13.1" x 9.4" x 0.85"

    Thanks!!! :glossy:

I too, am looking for something like this.. Like a thin foam sleeve or something. The ones I have seen are too big..

The closest I've found so far is the Booq Vyper M:

    http://www.booqbags.com/Detail.bok?no=96

It's made for a Powerbook 15 ... but it seems to fit the T1 pretty closely. It's inside compartment is 13.75x9.5x1.2" which is fairly close ... still half an inch too wide and a bit too "high" (1.2 vs 0.8") but I figure I could buy a piece of foam to put in there to keep it in place ... haven't decided yet :D

hay emmzee, if you do decide to buy the sleeve, let me know how well it works. even tho i have a laptop bag for my T1, it would be nice to have a little more protection around the edges

well, based on the dimensions that emmzee posted, it should fit (although the interior on the zeroshock is 13.0 inches as opposed to 13.1"....it may be a bit tight. but you make a good point. the notebooks that they list are all standard aspect ratio notebooks, not widescreen. i like the sumdex notebook sleeves b/c it also uses the polyurethane foam in the zeroshock, but it looks like it will leave more space inside the sleeve.

Hmmm I did look at the Shinza but discounted it b/c of the quoted 13" size ... I think I'll email them to ask if they think it'd fit and whether I'd be able to return it if it doesn't :D

Okay, here's my sleeve update :D I never got any reply from Shinza, so I guess they're out. Prolly wouldn't fit anyways.

Since my last post, I actually went and physically measured the entire laptop including the back of it including the battery. I found that the back (including the battery and the feet) is closer to 1.6"-1.8". So, it wouldn't likely fit in the Booq case anyways, since it's internal size is listed as 1.2". :(

So right now I am thinking of this one by Mobile Edge:

    http://www.mobileedge.com//items.asp?cid=5&scid=5&pid=10

Slightly too big, but at least this one has a strap to keep the lappy in place. My only concern is that the strap may scratch the shiny top of the laptop  ... but I'll probably get this one and see how it works. Its also 40% cheaper than the Booq model heh :)

i dont think it would scratch the surface of the lappy. but with repeated use the area might start to be more dull then other areas just because of the friction generated over time.. i was thinking with that kind of surface if i could buff it.. my dad owns a auto body shop.. thought maybe i could try?? :p hehe.. if not, i can take some clear coat and spray the lid again myself...

    Hi All,

I'm a new T1 owner... I just ordered the T1 and having it shipped directly to http://www.shieldzone.com/

I really love how their product protects the ipod, so I'm having my T1 full body shield. Since I'm the first, it will be a templet for the rest of you who wants to protect the T1.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed... I'll keep you posted when I have it in my hands.

Well I finally got around to ordering my Mobile Edge sleeve today (TechStyle EVA), I ordered it right from their website, so hopefully it'll get here soon. I considered getting the Booq sleeve and hoping that the T1 could squeeze inside it, but decided against it, partially due to the $50US price (+shipping) for the Booq.

I'll post a reply letting you know how it goes once the sleeve gets here. :)

Please do :) I'm *this* close to ordering a TI off of ncix/milestone later this week, but I'd like to hear if theres a sleeve that'll actually work with this thing first.

Okay I'll be sure to post when I get it. Note that since its shipping from somewhere in the USA, and I'm in Canada, it likely won't get here until sometime later next wk. :(

Nice to see both you and emmzee here, what a surprise!
To ship to http://www.shieldzone.com/ did scare me for a while, now I know you are real :)

Got my Mobile Edge case today, here's my brief "review" :)

    Mobile Edge TechStyle EVA (MEVSC1)

    http://www.mobileedge.com//items.asp?cid=5&scid=5&pid=10

    - Seems well made and would provide some protection, adequate enough for carrying it around or putting in your bag, but I still wouldn't want to be throwing this around or dropping it with my laptop in here

    - Looks good on the outside, it's almost black but has a subtle texture to it ... the inside is mostly soft fabric, the only concern is the cheap plastic pocket in the upper portion ... I'll probably put the fabric cloth included with the T1 on top of it whenever I put it in the sleeve just in case

    - The T1 fits reasonably well, there is about a half inch of space horizontaly and vertically (see pics below)

    - It is also obviously thicker than the T1, but unlike most other sleeves, it does have a velcro strap to hold the laptop in place ... hopefully it won't cause any marks on the T1's nice case (I doubt it would)

    - There's a cheap-feeling plastic-y pocket in the top part of the sleeve; I kinda wish they just left it out, it feels and looks kinda cheap ... but some may find it useful for storing things

    - There's also a little vecro-bottomed pencil-case like thing included, which is a nice gesture although it would be a pretty snug fit to get your T1 inside the sleeve with the pencil-case in there too

Okay here's what you probably have been waiting for, the pics: :D
    http://www.emmzee.com/mobileedge/

The last one is of the sleeve fitting inside my Dickies bag:
    http://www.interpunk.com/item.cfm?Item=21075&
(Note that Interpunk can't ship the Dickies bag to Canada anymore so if you want that you'll have to look around elsewhere heh)

So overall it seems like a decent enough case. Look alright, will provide some protection, fits decently, there's some room on the sides but as I found out it's basically impossible to find a sleeve that fits this thing perfectly, so the strap helps.

Now I must end this review by commenting on my ordering process. I will relate "just the facts" as they happened. I ordered on Jun 27 2006 at 09:49:14 PDT through the MobileEdge.com website using my PayPal debit card, which I hadn't used for probably a year. Everything seemed to go smoothly with the transaction through their secure site. Three days later I happened to login to my PayPal account and noticed two strange charges attempted on my account after the MobileEdge charge. The first was an attempted debit card transaction at an online store for over $300 that I did not make (I had never heard of the store before), made only 45 minutes after my MobileEdge order. Since I didn't have that much in my PayPal account, the charge was denied. Then a second charge was made for $8.24 to GoDaddy. This one was Pending at the time and is now completed, so I have to go through the debit transaction chargeback process to get it reversed through PayPal. When I noticed the charges I immediately phoned PayPal and had the debit card cancelled to prevent any further charges. Since then no other charges have been attempted on the account.

So, it *could* have been coincidence that these charges were made shortly after I made my purchase at MobileEdge.com. However ...
    - The first was attempted only 45 minutes after I purchased my sleeve on their site
    - I hadn't used my PayPal debit card for close to a year before this
    - Whoever did this had access only to my debit card info, not my PayPal account itself
    - No one else has access to my PayPal account or debit card info
    - The ordering process was secure 128-bit encrypted
    - I fully scanned my PC after this incident (antivirus & spyware) and do not have any viruses/spyware

So, I don't know where the problem occurred, probably with whoever MobileEdge is/was using for their payment processing, but if you are going to order this sleeve, I wouldn't do it from the MobileEdge.com website. I contacted MobileEdge regarding this issue and they assured me they would investigate and get back to me, but I haven't heard anything yet.

Okay anyways ... thats all :D
