So; my S6f gets stolen and I'm looking around for new notebooks. The LG T1 seems perfect but none are available so I give the A1 a shot to see if I can deal with an external ODD. Thus far it's been *great*. But... zut alors my father flips his lid over the C1 and wants one. I find someone who can get that and the batteries and AC adapters he can't live without (never uses 'em but lord help us if they can't be had).

I ask casually about the T1 and get a call back that they found some refurbs. So... I take the plunge along with one for dear old Dad.

In the meantime I start investigating the R200 and find the Sideshow version. WOW is that thing gorgeous. I place an order. So... instead of one notebook I now spent WAY over my budget and will have three. But... what a lineup!!!! I have the odd feeling that I'll be living mostly with the R200 with the T1 going to the wife and the A1 being for weekend light usage on short trips.

Thus far though I'm blown away by LG. The build quality is good, the looks are great, the displays are beautiful and the performance is decent (but it's a 1.2Ghz and 1.8" HDD so coming from 1.66 and 5400RPM that's a hit) What's been most impressive is the software and the well thought out 'workflow'. Specifically the LG Updater ROCKS. It's still first blush but even after doing windows update and looking for things I'd missed it caught two updates I hadn't loaded and took care of it. It's unobtrusive, doesn't bug the user with marketing BS as Dell's does but lets you know when updates are available across the board for drivers and some software.

The autoswitching network utility is the bomb as well... first one I've ever seen that comes that close to working flawlessly and first one that's that EASY. At work I have a WEP key and a static IP. At home I have a different network ID, DHCP and WPA. It all autoswitches flawlessly INCLUDING the IP. That's the missing link; every other 'profile' manager only addressed network and security keys. If I need to change the static IP it's even faster than using the MS tools. VERY impressed.

That and the thing isn't loaded down with junkware!

It's been exactly 11 months since your trifector LG buy...
I'm now in the market for a lightweight nb. What's your experience with your toys? How does it compare to Asus?

    Thanks
