I have tried digital coaxial, and it does not works. Then i read somewhere that if there is a led coming out ( which it does), then have to use an optical cable. However, the connector of the optical cable does not fit into the 3.5mm headphone slot, so what do i just need to get?
    Pls help

I'm no expert at all in this, but for what I've read, you must find a way to fit to the 3.5mm minijack of the integrated sound card. I don't think there is another way.

There are specialized cables for this. Just google "optical miniplug cable" and a bunch of vendors will come up. I'm pretty sure Radioshack/The Source By CC carries them as well. Just make sure you know what the connector is on the other end (e.g. coax, Toslink, etc.). Its a lot easier to find miniplug/Toslink than miniplug/coax.

I am not entirely sure that the SPDIF output on the S1 is optical.

Please note that SPDIF Standards can be optical (Light carrier) or Electrical, or both.

I will have to paly with mine to figure it out once I get the friggin time, my job is driving me insane!

The SPDIF on the S1 is optical.. If you activate it and put your finger near the hole, you'll see a red light. Anyway, yes you buy a mini optical cable and it will work fine, I use one myself.

Just for your info, I have the "docking station" (officially called LG Port Replicator) and it has a normal sized (square) optical output too. With this you can use the common optical cables that are also used with stereo systems, on videogame consoles etc... I didn't try it though, but it is definitely there.
