my notebook has recently developed this disturbing fan noise.

it now releases a loud and unpleasant brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr noise instead of the usual phoooooooooooo noise. i took off the keyboard, and blew out the dust using canned air, but it made absolutely no difference.

my laptop is about 4 months past warranty. any solutions or any ideas how i would go about replacing the fan?

the noise is unbearable on any setting above "silent".

This sounds very similar to my old Fujitsu S2010. I suspect your LG has a fairly thin chassis so they use a propellor-type fan spinning quite fast.

Ultimately, replacement is the only option. This may be DIY if you can get the right part. For now, undervolting should reduce heat generated and fan use. (One reason I undervolt from new is to reduce fan wear).
