Hey, I love the command line. Nothing beats it in power, but I would not call it simple. It can have quite learnig curve. That is why PCLinuxOS is shuch a good choice. Its GUI tools offer simplicity and sane defaults, while at the same time making more advanced options available without having to interrupt one's workflow. I could give you several examples, but right now I have to go.

They just provide patches I guess.

It uses KDE.....that's not PCLinuxOS, that's KDE you're talking about.

Of course its KDE, but it is also the custom PCLinuxOS Control Center. For example, things like configuring a printer with PCLOS are more flexible and configurable than with Ubuntu. Unless you are willing to delve into the command line or are willing to edit config files by hand.

Hey, that is why the PCLinuxOS team call themselves "Texstar and the Ripper Gang". ;)

But, that is what being a good Linux distro is about, grabbing the best open source software from around the world and integrating it into a cohesive stable product. I love Texstar's attitude of using the best tool for the job regardless of where it came from or what toolkit it was implemented with. I think they have done a great job.

Again, that is a subjective opinion. But, really, when you think about it, the time they were in charge, during Texstar's sabatical, PCLinuxOS struggled. Through a great effort they were able to release the 2007 release, which was not bad. But, after Tex returned, the good old PCLinuxOS top notch reliability is back in full force. Those of us that have been running the distro day in and day out from long before the 2007 release know this. These are good times in deed.

Eh, I just don't like it, and that's not subjective.

We can objectively conclude that you don't like it due to subjective reasons. ;)

Yeah, I think he really doesn't. But how good it is that we have plenty of good distros to choose from. Some like one, othrs another, and some like theZoid, like just about all of them.

(At least it seems so, from purely empirical data and observations I have made.) ;D
