I suggest running 32bit for now since you only have 2gb of RAM.

Well if your familiar with ubuntu then yeah go ahead with x64

Ubuntu doesnt really use that much RAM..

I have 4gb RAM and using x32. It only addresses 3gb RAM but still good enough..

if you are new to linux i recommend getting the 32 bit version. Many programs arent actually developed for 64bit architecture so they need to be run in a special way which can be tricky at times. Ill be going back to 32bit soon since it just gets annoying sometimes when you cant get something working and there is no performance increase (yet). Later, when people start to adopt 64bit on a wider base and programs are developed for it, then maybe give it a shot but for now i would just stick to 32bit.

There are benefits of using 64bit already. Anything proc intensive will be faster. Things such as transferring large files around, compiling etc. The 64bit Ubuntu's core programs have been made to work better in 64bit.

With that said, if you have to ask the question, just go with 32bit.

64 bit is better than 32 bit IMO.

I find 64 bits to be noticeably faster. However, since some apps only work in 32 bits, I keep some 32 bits library around which gives me the best of both worlds.

Yeah. Though my Arch is 32bit, but when I was with Ubuntu I used 64bit and downloaded the 32bit libraries with some too. Urgh. I forgot the name. I think the name had a "g" in it. Anyway, it's all automated, so it's all easy.
