I am having trouble with my external monitor. Ubuntu's default behavior is to have the external monitor mirror the laptop screen. If I try to extend the desktop onto the external monitor, the system locks up.

    Mirrored is fine.
Unmirrored with only 1 screen active is fine.
Unmirrored with both screens active == Lockup.
Unmirrored with external screen active works fine until I close laptop screen == lockup.
