First off, it has to be free.
What would be a good linux os that can be a print server and stuff?

Any of them. If all you want is to share a printer and some files, you don't need to install Linux server editions; standard desktop installations can do all of that.

Okay, which one would be simple to use? I'm not good with cmd. I just need some names.
-
What specifically do you want it to do? I have a feeling it may be way easier and very possible to do this all with a windows based machine.

Really to have a print server and share files and a computer to upload to. I just want something easy to access (vista doesn't like XP and XP based printers, so that doesn't work for me)

Crimsonman....you from Univ of Alabama by any chance? Had to ask

Ooh, no I get that from a book, so, you're a bit off.

I would just say go with fedora/redhat/centos or ubuntu, because this excellent guide covers those two distributions.

Uh huh, thats great that you're having an awesome experience with vista and XP printers, I'm not, okay? So don't talk to me about it.
-
Hey, I am not talking you down or anything, but you have to separate between fact and opinion. That is my point. If someone comes and read your post about Windows XP and Vista aren't compatible for whatever reasons, and he decides to believe you. That is a fault information.
Don't take it too personal. Just chill man. -
OpenFiler is a NAS distro, not sure about print server on it though. I use FreeNAS with CUPS

I'd suggest Ubuntu Server Edition. Ubuntu is my favorite distro (been using it for 1.5 years on the desktop) and I've installed a lot of server packages on my desktop install, such as Apache, ProFTPD, print sharing, etc. and it all works wonderfully.
A good server linux
