    I have an acer 3050 and it is impossible to install linux on it! any distro I try gives me this message:
    Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init

    and then nothing happens... even live cds dont run as they give me the same msg... what can be done?
    thanks in advance!

    It could be RAM that is not properly seated or faulty
    Could you run memtest86 from one of the cds?

    seems to me it is an acpi error... always locks up when starting acpi.
    is there any way I can solve this?
    I mean, when using Kubuntu as test.

    You could try the following options at the boot prompt (one at a time):
    acpi=force
    acpi=off

    I just found out that the BIOS is bugged and thast the acpi tables were compiled to work only under windows, so in order to work under linux I should recompile instalationa files and so on... but as I am a moron when talking about linux I think my linux experience will be postponed...
    anyway, thank you for your time and effort, acpi=off doesnt work either with kubuntu, but with kurumin it does... well, thanks again.
