    Hello,

I'm posting here because my question is about OpenSolaris, which as you may know is extremely similar to various Linux versions.

I'm configuring mine but for the life of me I can't figure out how to add a Recycle Bin to the desktop. I thought it would be like Ubuntu, etc., but the thing is, I can't even open the Natilus window where you pick if you want the trash can to be visible. I go to the terminal and open Natilus but it's just like going to the Home folder. No apps>desktop, nothing.

    Thanks peeps.

To be honest, GNOME developers really need to make this option easier to find. Tweaking via a registry-like interface is ridiculous.

Wow, that's a good question. I'd wondered about that, but assumed it was easy. Thanks! :)

I take it Linux Mint does this by default, thus adding to the Windows feel? :p

Hmmm... Still haven't tried LinuxMint. How is it? I like Ubuntu and Solaris the most so far. VirtualBox is amazing  .

Anyone have experience with FreeBSD? I wonder about that one too.

Playing with all these OS's is really fun. Especially if you don't have to multi-boot and stuff. I went from trying out for fun to really using it. I've been using Ubuntu and Vista for serious stuff A LOT now.

Linux Mint is awesome. Words cannot convey its awesomeness. :) It's built off Ubuntu, so you might like it.

It looks better themed by default than Ubuntu, that's for sure. ;)

OK. Apparently I am missing something. Yesterday when I asked I wasn't near my Solaris. But now that I am trying it I can't seem to find the option.

Maybe I am doing something wrong. OK, so I turn on Solaris, have the desktop loaded and then:

    Step 1. ____
    Step 2. ____
    Step 3. ____

    Result: Trash Can on Desktop.

Please fill in the blanks. Thank you! Again!

Step 1. Open gconf-editor (however you do that in Solaris; in Ubuntu, I use the Alt+F2 launcher)
    Step 2. Navigate to apps>nautilus>desktop>trash_icon_visible
Step 3. Check the box :D

There! That's what I can't do. Alt F2 doesn't do anything in Solaris. How could I bring up the gconf-editor? I usually Alt F2 and then type gconf-editor in Ubuntu

Try executing gconf-editor from the terminal. Does it give any error messages?

In Ubuntu, I edit the main menu so it will show up as an item under system tools (it's unchecked by default, you should be able to do that?)....Fwiw
