New to Ubuntu. The one thing I really loved about Windows 7 was being able to hit Windows Key + Direction and have my window move wherever I wanted.

Can I get this in Ubuntu?

I don't see why not. I was able to do aero snap in Mint 10. :)

Yes, I'd heard it was possible on Mint.

I've only found ways to do it with mouse gestures on Ubuntu. I'm looking to specifically use my Windows key. Right now hitting Windows + direction doesn't do anything anyways.

Also, I have my mouse set to "edge scroll" but it doesn't work. Worked in Windows 7.

I would be surprised if there wasn't already a guide online.

Also, any idea about what to do for my mouse?

Install "ccsm", it's the advanced compiz settings panel. Inside, you should be able to find the key bindings for it somewhere.

Yeah, I had to remove Ubuntu. Kept crashing/ having problems. Both installations.

Did you run it through Wubi, or as a separate installation on another partition/drive?

    Yeah, Wubi.

There were a few known problems and then random crashes. One of the problems was that my title bar disappeared randomly at one point. Couldn't get it back. I tried a fix I'd read about online but it just made things worse.

You could also have switched to the classic gnome desktop. Unity(the default) is still in it's early days.

Gnome is ugly. Sorry, I'd love to use a linux based OS but if I'm going to be staring at my computer I want it to look nice. Unity is the first acceptable UI I've seen for linux.

Tried KDE? That IMO hits the bling sweet spot and in some cases exceeds Windows Aero. OpenSUSE looks amazing and is very stable.

KDE is alright. I don't love it.

edit: Trying Ubuntu 11.04 64bit again.

Mouse scrolling won't work -- if I can fix that one issue I'll be ok. I can live without snap.
