    Hey, so I just re-installed Ubuntu 8.10, and amazingly, my microphone(and Logitech webcam) worked out of the box, but like the last time I got my microphone working, the problem of it being incredibly hard to hear persists, even when the Mic Boost is on full.
    I know it's not the microphone, because on Windows it's louder than what the output on Ubuntu is from at least 5 meters away... no exaggeration. I quite literally have to put my mouth right on it, and this is very annoying, considering it's a desktop microphone, and people on my live stream, and on Skype are constantly complaining about how low it is.
    Don't get me wrong, it's understandable why they complain, and I know I'm very lucky for it to work in the first place(out of the box anyway), but I just don't see why it's so low.
    So, my question is, is there any switches which will allow me to amplify, beyond the Mic Boost one, in the event of streaming audio through the Internet? And also, what's the initial Microphone switch? Because Microphone outputs what's going through the Microphone into the actual audio out device, rather than actually increasing what the microphone is picking up.
    Thanks in advance for any help,
    EMZ=]

    There should be a few things tied to the microphone volume. Try adjusting all of them that are labelled "Microphone" at all.
