I need a color browser, I wasnt able to compile gcolor.
    Are there any alternatives ?

FYI, the error during compilation of gcolor was:
    callbacks.c: In function ‘drawtext’:
callbacks.c:145: error: ‘GtkStyle’ has no member named ‘font’

Although this may not be entirely helpful to you, GIMP has a colour-picker feature you could use.

Alternatively you could use one of the many websites with colour browsers. I like the following: like this. If you are looking to harmonise a colour scheme you could use something like colorblender.

Failing that you could always use the colorZilla extension for Firefox.

Sorry if these aren't exactly what you're looking for, but I thought the alternatives might be of use to you.
