I just finished my torrent. Gonna burn the ISO now and pop it into my laptop to give it a test spin.

Part of me hopes I don't like it because I don't really have a place to put it at the moment >.>

I'm digging the GUI. I wonder if it would be possible to get it so that it could switch between Sunlight and Moonlight automatically based upon the time of day.

The interface looks a lot more polished then basic Ubuntu. My one complaint about Ubuntu was that it wasn't quite as shiny as Vista. I do like my eye candy. The quickbar at the bottom that lets you select the apps you've got installed on your system is nice though with my 1440x900 resolution I find that the text is so tiny I have trouble reading it.

Wouldn't installing a theme do the same basic thing? Why make everyone burn another cd and format to update their gui? /sigh

I have slickness theme going on my laptop and it looks pretty close to these. I also have a pretty kickass wallpaper that I also like.

Also if you want to try it out just install Virtual box and you can install it using a virtual machine rather then formatting, it'll also let you go full screen if you want.

Wow....finally booted up the liveCD....pretty cool....I thought I saw on their website you could put their desktop onto an existing Ubuntu installation. Wonder how it would work on Hardy? :D

I've used both, fluxbuntu is just ubuntu using fluxbox so it's only good if you're into that kind of thing or need to use it on something that can't even run xfce (Xubuntu). DreamLinux was pretty alright, but the GUI was lackluster and i had problems connecting to my network, even though it was wired. If you want something artistic, LinuxMint is pretty artistic if you ask me.

Yes I know that fluxbuntu is just ubuntu + fluxbox ( I tried it out to see how much faster the different gui made ubuntu). I however disagree with your comments on dreamlinux, in my testing I found the gui to be very graphically appealing , with the dock and the easy implementation of compiz fusion.

It doesn't look anything at all like Mac OS X (i came to realize this only after i saw some Mac screenshots) which is what they're trying for, and even though it has AWN so can every other distro. LinuxMint has Compiz-Fusion built in too. ;)

i dont really mind if it isnt exactly os x, what i was trying to say is that awn and compiz come preinstalled in dreamlinux and require little tweaking, unlike many linux oses such as ubuntu etc which requires the use of synaptics package manager, and a rather annoying configuration procedure. As u said linuxmint comes with compiz built in, so that is another option :)

Artistically i find LinuxMint to dominate over DreamLinux, but that is pure opinion. It's good to suggest all the options.

Technically the goal is to try and combine Enlightenment with Gnome. I'm something of a Linux noob since I've really only been on the Linux scene since Feb and the only distro I've ever used for any serious length of time is Ubuntu but I know what I like and I do like this.

I need to pop the LiveCD into my desktop and see if the font at the bottom is any more readable. Unfortunately due to my laptop's resolution and screen size I don't think OpenGEU is going to work out for me. Perhaps I should acquire Dreamlinux

You can adjust all that to your liking....I too like it, I'm going to put it on my Acer lappy and see what I can do with. I like it's originality.

I've seen LinuxMint, and to me it doesn't seem all that impressive graphically. Not too many Linux distros do in my opinion. I'm looking forward to OpenSUSE 11, from what I've seen it looks like like it'll have the best GUI. Very modern and polished (except for the extremely out of of place clock numbers). My favorite so far I think.
